My Grand-father emigrated from HK to Derry in the 1960s. This is our family restaurant 'China Garden' in 1988.
Like many immigrant families back then we lived above the restaurant, in a not so 'homely' environment but we made do.

When people ask me 'Where are you from?' I used to say Derry but my parents are from HK.
But today when people ask me 'Where are you from?' I Say Derry. Nothing more nothing less.

We were honoured to share the stage with the other 4 amazing projects at the Northern Ireland Screen] Pitch to share our feature doc Chinese Takeaway kids as part of .

Chinese Takeaway Kids is a personal and authored film about 3 generations of the Chinese Community in Ireland.

Big congrats to the winner 👏 and best of wishes to the other projects 💪
