Screen Ireland was delighted to partner with Eclipse Pictures, TG4 and Danú Media on a special screening of Irish language film Báite in the Light House Cinema, with guest of honour President of Ireland / Uachtarán na hÉireann Michael D. Higgins.

This event was an opportunity to thank President Higgins for his steadfast commitment to the arts, the Irish screen industry and the Irish language, which has inspired and elevated Ireland’s creative community throughout his presidency.

The President was presented with two gifts, courtesy of Animation Ireland, Screen Producers Ireland, the Screen Directors Guild Ireland, the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland, the Writers Guild of Ireland, the Screen Guilds of Ireland and the Irish Film Institute (IFI).

The first is a beautiful piece of artwork from the multi award winning animation studio Cartoon Saloon representing the artistry at the heart of the creative screen industry; and the second gift is a piece of Connemara Marble which represents the foundational stone that was laid by the President.
