Laois County Councillor Aisling Moran was one of 24 volunteers who took on the 1,200km journey from Mombasa in Kenya to Kampala in Uganda.

The humanitarian mission organised by the Hope on Wheels organisation involved delivering 11 decommissioned ambulances brought from Ireland through countryside, remote roads, and national parks.

The ambulances, donated by the National Ambulance Service, Dublin Fire Brigade, and Civil Defence were shipped to the port of Mombasa ahead of the start of the convoy.
