Her upcoming concert is packed with music friends and family in support for wife, Terry. SONiA and Terry are consistent and persistent love warriors, advocating for the marginalized for decades. Back in the beginning of Women On Air, the format was intended to reach the gay audience. The originator of the show, Louise Vahle, knew there was an audience OUT there; she also had requests from listeners for more women music. To be now in the 40th year of broadcast is one great accomplishment; to witness the change in the landscape for the LGBTQ+ population is another. Like Ani DiFranco sings, we’re trying to evolve.

Back in studio this week and wow, it took a minute to regroup with the new production program. Adapting to new technology is not my strong suit. This brings to mind undergrad physics learning strategy, which was to was to understand whatever way I thought a thing worked, it actually worked conversely. ANYWAY…

June is Pride Month with celebrations, affirmations, art exhibitions and events all around the region and across the nation. Playlist includes

Early June is a remarkable time in nature for our region when the synchronous fireflies and blue light fireflies appear. There’s a firefly and humming bird set that includes
Lori McKenna, Kris Delmhorst and Eddie Reader.

Women On Air passed the 39th year anniversary date on May 17th. I’m proud of continuing the show featuring women in arts, education and community.
