🎙️ New History Ireland Hedge School Podcast Now Available!

O’Connell 250 — The Liberator Reassessed
📍 Recorded live on Wednesday 30 July 2025 at Glasnevin Cemetery Visitor Centre

Described by biographer Oliver MacDonagh as “perhaps the greatest innovator in modern democratic politics” and “the originator of almost all the basic strategies of modern Anglo-Irish constitutional relations”, Daniel O’Connell remains a towering figure in Irish history.

To mark the 250th anniversary of his birth, History Ireland editor Tommy Graham hosts a lively and insightful discussion with Patrick Geoghegan, Jennifer T. Keating, Christine Kinealy, and Davide Mazzi, re-examining the legacy of the man known as The Liberator.

This special Hedge School was recorded as part of O’Connell 250: Liberty, Democracy and the Struggle for Human Rights, a two-day symposium supported by Trinity College Dublin.
