Nature walks!

No rush, just me, the path, and nature doing its thing.

There’s something really grounding about having a familiar route that still manages to surprise me with little changes like blossoms popping out or birds I hadn’t noticed before.

I stop, take photos.

My walk end up taking way longer than it should. But in the best way.

Some facts about the flower in the picture -

Prunus spinosa, called blackthorn or sloe, is an Old World species of flowering plant in the rose family, Rosaceae. It is locally naturalized in parts of the New World.

The small white flowers, blooming densely on bare branches before the leaves fully emerge, are a distinctive feature of blackthorn in early spring. It's commonly found in hedgerows and woodland edges across Europe.

Blackthorn blossoms don’t last too long, and they’re some of the first real signs that spring’s settling in.

Have you noticed the bees and other pollinators around the flowers this month ?

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
