A survey reported recently by RTE says that Irish employers are the least likely to use AI in the workplace. Why is this?
AI as we see it being used and discussed today is still a relatively new technology, and like anything new, employers are understandably wary of the unknown. Is my and my customers' data safe? Will it replace jobs? How can AI actually help me?
These concerns are of course valid, and every good business owner should be cautious. However, if given the chance and if implemented correctly, AI is a real game changer.
Let's first discuss the important security and data privacy concerns. AI platforms such as ChatGPT are like any other digital tools that process data; there are risks with implementing them but when done correctly then there are ways to mitigate that risk.
OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT) are rigorously audited by 3rd parties for security, they encrypt their data both in transit and at rest, and ChatGPT Enterprise are audited and certified for SOC 2 Type 1 compliance. When companies use their API or Enterprise options, there are additional enhanced security measurements. You can read more about their policies here: https://lnkd.in/gbWJFeV3 but as a general rule, each use case and each project will require different consideration so please reach out to us for specific information and guidance.
Now for the exciting stuff. Let's look at a simple example of how AI Chatbots and Agents can help drive your business without actually handing over all the keys.
An AI powered chatbot can be trained to be as restrictive as you need, it will answer only the questions you want it to answer, and use only the data you give it access to. It can be an immensely powerful tool in a customer service scenario because it can answer questions 24/7, scale to handle huge volumes, remove the risk of human error or miscommunication, support multiple languages, gather customer data etc., all while your human agents concentrate on queries that require real human touch.
I've used Zapier's new chatbot product as well as the Writesonic bot launched by Botsonic, and they both respond really well to training rules as well as instructions on conversational tone.
Taking this a step further, chatbots can graduate to AI Agents. In addition to answering questions based on static training data, AI agents can connect to 3rd party tools to perform tasks like sending email/Slack alerts, update CRM software, create documents from templates, convert conversational content into form entries and spreadsheet format, read PDFs and create payments and reports from the data, place and cancel orders for customers, and even route queries to human agents if that is what a situation calls for.
