Across Israel, life came to a standstill at the start of the week. Bereaved families and relatives of hostages launched a nationwide strike, urging the government to prioritize saving lives over expanding the war.

From Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square to hundreds of protest sites across the country, their cry was simple and urgent: bring the hostages home, protect our soldiers, and fight for the future of Israel.

This was not politics. It was a nation’s heartache turned into action.

Remember Ronen Engel 🎗️

On October 7, 2023, 54-year-old Ronen Engel was kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz along with his wife Karina and their daughters Mika and Yuval. Ronen’s son, Tom, was not home that day.

While Karina, Mika, and Yuval were freed from Gaza on November 27, hope turned to heartbreak when, just days later, the IDF confirmed Ronen had been killed in Hamas captivity. His body is still being held in Gaza.

Ronen was a gifted photographer, a Magen David Adom volunteer, and a man whose hallmark was his smile. Friends and colleagues remember how he could bring light into even the darkest moments, making patients smile in the midst of emergencies and lifting the spirits of everyone around him. He loved motorcycles, adventure, and capturing life through his camera lens.

Those who knew him describe him as a hero — a husband and father who fought for his family’s lives, a loyal friend of decades, and a man who always looked for the bright side.

We remember Ronen. We honor his courage. We demand his return.
Even in death, he deserves to come home.

Remember Itay Chen 🎗️

Sgt. Itay Chen, 19, from Netanya, was serving in the IDF’s 7th Armored Brigade on the morning of October 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists stormed the Gaza border. In the chaos of battle, he was killed defending Israel and his body was taken into Gaza.
For months, his family clung to hope as he was listed among the living hostages until intelligence confirmed the heartbreaking truth: Itay had fallen that day. Yet his body remains in Hamas captivity.

A dual US–Israeli citizen, Itay was last heard from at 6:40 a.m., holding the line in his tank as communities near the border came under attack. His father, Ruby Chen, has been a tireless advocate for the hostages.

The Chen family has vowed not to sit shiva until Itay is returned, standing alongside other hostage families in calling for an immediate deal to bring every loved one home.
Itay was a son, a brother, a friend, and a soldier who gave his life in defense of his people. His story is not over. We remember him. We demand his return.

Even in death, he deserves to come home.

Remember Uriel Baruch 🎗️

Uriel Baruch, 35, a loving husband and father of two, was abducted by Hamas terrorists from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023. On March 26, 2024, his family received the heartbreaking news that Uriel had been killed in captivity, with his body still held in Gaza.

Uriel was a joyful man, cherished by all who knew him. He worked in construction, loved techno music, and was always surrounded by friends. His affectionate nickname, "Badalu," reflects the warmth and happiness he brought to those around him. His family, devastated by his loss, remembers him as someone who loved life and brought joy to every room he entered.

Uriel is survived by his wife Rachel and their two sons. His story is one of love, hope, and unimaginable pain. We mourn his loss and continue to fight for the return of all hostages held by Hamas.

Uriel’s life did not end with his death, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. We demand his return, and we will never forget him.

Remember Tamir Adar 🎗️

Tamir Adar, 38, a devoted father, husband, and lifelong resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz, was killed defending his community during the Hamas invasion on October 7, 2023. As the attack unfolded, Tamir rushed to support the kibbutz’s security team, ensuring his wife and children were safe in a reinforced room. His courageous actions cost him his life, and his body was abducted into Gaza, where it remains.

Tamir’s fate was uncertain for months until January 5, when his family was informed of his death and abduction. His loved ones sat shiva for Tamir, mourning the loss of a man who was known for his love of nature, his dedication to others, and his unwavering commitment to his family.

Tamir is survived by his wife, Hadas, children Asaf, 7, and Neta, 3, his parents, siblings, and many relatives who will forever carry his memory. His cousin, Adva, wrote: "Tamush, your smile will continue to light the way for us." Tamir’s legacy as a fighter, a family man, and a role model lives on through the love he gave and the community he protected.

Tamir is a hero, and his final wish was clear: to keep moving forward, always with gratitude. He deserves to come home.

Remember Sgt. First Class Ran Gvili 🎗️

Ran Gvili, a dedicated police officer from the Yasam patrol unit in Israel’s Negev district, was killed on October 7, 2023, while bravely defending the community of Alumim from Hamas terrorists.

During the attack, Ran was abducted into Gaza. For months, his fate remained uncertain, until January 30, when updated intelligence confirmed that he had been murdered by Hamas on the day of the massacre. His body remains in captivity.
Ran was not just a police officer; he was a protector, a fighter, a hero who stood in the face of evil. He died defending life and dignity during Israel’s darkest hour.

He deserves to be brought home. His sacrifice must never be forgotten.

Remember Inbar Haiman 🎗️

Inbar Haiman, 27, a gifted visual communications student from Haifa, was volunteering at the Nova music festival when Hamas terrorists stormed the grounds on October 7, 2023.

As the massacre unfolded, Inbar hid under a stage, then under a bush, trying to escape the chaos. Eyewitnesses later recounted seeing her abducted by Hamas terrorists armed with knives. A video later surfaced showing her beaten and surrounded by her captors.

For over two months, her loved ones held onto hope. On December 16, her family was informed that Inbar had been murdered in Hamas captivity. Her body is still being held in Gaza.

Inbar was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a light to those who knew her. Her story did not end with her death. We remember her. We demand her return.

Even in death, she deserves to come home.
