Another SWALIMO Leader is Granted Refugee Status in Ireland-Reports the Secretary General
Official Announcement – Refugee Status Granted to the International Relations and Affairs Secretary
It is with great honour and profound gratitude that I, as Secretary General of the Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO), officially announce to the President, the National Executive Council, all leadership structures, and our membership across the globe, that our International Relations and Affairs Secretary, Cde Gift Mandlenkosi Dlamini, has been granted refugee status in the Republic of Ireland, effective 13 August 2025.
This development is a powerful affirmation of the courage and commitment displayed by Cde Dlamini in advancing the cause of democracy, justice, and human rights for the people of Swaziland, even in the face of targeted persecution by the despotic Tinkhundla regime.
On behalf of SWALIMO, I wish to express our deep appreciation to the Government and people of the Republic of Ireland for this principled and humanitarian gesture, which reaffirms Ireland’s enduring commitment to the protection of political refugees and the global struggle for democracy and freedom.
We also convey our heartfelt gratitude to the United Eswatini Diaspora (UED), the Free Swaziland Movement (FSM), Swazi Lives Matter Global Solidarity Movement, and the Justice for Swaziland
Campaign for their unwavering support, advocacy, and solidarity throughout this process. Your collective actions have once again proven that our struggle is a shared one, sustained by unity and guided by a vision of a free and democratic Swaziland.
As we celebrate this important milestone, we remain fully conscious of the sacrifices still demanded by our struggle. We must continue to apply sustained pressure on the Tinkhundla regime through diplomatic engagement, grassroots mobilisation, and international solidarity until the full liberation of our people is achieved.
To Cde Gift Mandlenkosi Dlamini, we extend our warmest congratulations. We are confident that this development will enable you to serve the movement with renewed vigour, ensuring that SWALIMO’s voice remains strong and resonant in the global arena.
The struggle continues – victory is certain.
