Respected National Security Advisor Shri Ajit Doval,
It is of utmost importance that this matter be brought to your attention. A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security is going to be held very soon to discuss the current situation in Bangladesh. With China’s backing, Bangladesh has initiated the construction of a new air force base alarmingly close to India — at Lalmonirhat, near the Cooch Behar–Siliguri corridor. The “chicken’s neck” to Lalmonirhat is only 100.5 kilometers, and the distance from the Cooch Behar border to Lalmonirhat is merely 13–14 kilometers. These activities are reportedly part of a larger plan involving Bangladesh, Pakistan, and China in collaboration.
I believe you are already fully aware of these developments.
Now, on behalf of the people of Tripura, I would like to place a request before you. Despite all these alarming activities, you must already know that the land to the east of the Meghna River, historically known as “Chakla Roshnabad” (covering areas like Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Noakhali, and Chittagong), rightfully belongs to Tripura but is under illegal occupation by Bangladesh. Two years ago, Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina publicly admitted in front of the media that “Comilla district” is land of the Tripura state. At present, the whole world acknowledges that Sheikh Hasina remains the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, since she has not issued any resignation letter.
Based on news reports, Sheikh Hasina is currently in India. Therefore, I urge you to obtain a signed written statement from her reiterating her previous remark. Since the world still recognizes her as the legitimate leader of Bangladesh, and she is currently in India enjoying all facilities and protections, it would only be logical for India to secure this documentation from her.
Such a written record could later be used against the current caretaker government of Bangladesh, headed by Mr. Mohammad Yunus. If ever there comes a time when aggressive action is taken regarding the Chicken’s Neck strategy, India could reclaim the land east of the Meghna River and open a direct passage from Tripura to West Bengal and the Northeast. The world would then see that India has not acted immorally — it would simply be reclaiming its own land. In such a scenario, the world would stand with India. That would be the time to return the favor — not with a brick, but with a stone.
Thank you, and please accept my respectful regards. (I sincerely hope you will kindly read this open letter.)
