At just 16 years old, Sanjana Debbarma should be dreaming about her future, attending school, and enjoying her teenage years. Instead, she is fighting a life-threatening battle against cancer, hoping for another chance to live.

Sanjana, the daughter of Debendra Debbarma from Kalyanpur under the Ramchandraghat Assembly Constituency, has been undergoing treatment for cancer. However, her family’s financial condition has left them struggling to continue the expensive medical care she urgently needs.

Doctors have recommended advanced treatment without delay, but the overwhelming cost has pushed the family into desperation. With each passing day, time is becoming more precious as Sanjana continues her courageous fight for survival.

Former Tripura Chief Minister and veteran CPI(M) leader Manik Sarkar has alleged that the BJP is using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to prepare a voter list that favours the ruling party.

Addressing a public meeting in Chailengta, Dhalai district, on July 2, Sarkar claimed that the exercise targets Muslims, labourers, and economically weaker sections.

He also alleged that similar practices were taking place in Bihar, West Bengal, and Assam. The BJP has not responded to these allegations in the statement provided.

The Central Government has allocated ₹1,040 crore to Tripura under the newly launched Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-GRAM G) for the current financial year. Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy announced the allocation during the scheme’s virtual launch from Agartala on July 2.

The new programme aims to strengthen rural employment by expanding the scope of development works beyond those covered under MGNREGA. Additionally, the daily wage for workers in Tripura has increased from ₹240 to ₹300, providing a significant boost to rural livelihoods.

Tripura Police, in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP), seized a suspected banned cough syrup consignment worth over ₹2.5 crore from the parcel van of the Deoghar Express at Agartala Railway Station on July 2. Acting on specific intelligence, officials recovered 39,345 bottles of suspected Eskuf and Fairdyl cough syrup hidden inside 81 sealed metal drums.

The joint operation involved the Special Branch, GRP, and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Police have launched an investigation to identify those behind the smuggling network and trace the source and destination of the consignment.

April Blossom Foundation, a school for children with special needs in Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh, has received the Best School Award at the SA Indian School Awards. Renowned Indian boxer Mary Kom presented the award in recognition of the institution’s contribution to inclusive and special education.

For the past five years, the foundation has provided free education and therapeutic support to children with special needs. Its early intervention programmes have helped many children with autism improve their developmental skills, with several successfully joining mainstream schools.

The death toll in the Gangapur attack in Assam’s Nalbari district has risen to two after critically injured victim Mridumudra Deka died at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Friday. She had been undergoing treatment for 33 days following the attack but succumbed to her injuries despite intensive medical care.

Earlier, her cousin Madhurjya Barman also lost his life due to the injuries sustained in the same incident. Meanwhile, police continue their investigation, and citizens have renewed their demand for a speedy trial.
