It looks like magic… but it’s actually SCIENCE! 🧪✨

I gave Saavi a blank-looking sheet and asked her to paint it with a turmeric + hand sanitizer mixture… and then 🪄 Ganesha appeared! 🐘❤️
This is such a fun screen-free science activity for kids 5+ because they get to create, wait, observe and discover instead of just watching the magic happen.

🔬 But what’s actually happening?
The hidden Ganesha was drawn using baking soda + water. Once it dries, the baking soda marks become almost invisible against the white paper.

Then comes the reveal! 🎨

Turmeric contains curcumin, a natural pH indicator. Baking soda is alkaline (basic), so when the turmeric mixture touches the hidden baking-soda drawing, the curcumin changes from yellow to a reddish/orange-brown colour—making the secret drawing appear! 🧪✨ �

So your child is actually learning about pH, acids & bases, chemical indicators, observation and cause & effect… while thinking they're doing MAGIC! 😍
