SUNNAH ACTS CONNECTED TO EID AL FITR:

1. Adorning oneself on Eid:

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما said: "The Prophet ‎ﷺ used to wear a red cloak on the day of Eid." (Silsilat al-Sahihah 1279)

(women shouldn’t display their adornments in front of men and wear the correct hijab)

2. Showering on the day of Eid before going out:

Nafi' رحمه الله said: "Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما used to shower on the day of Eid before heading to the prayer place." (al-Muwatta’ 384)

3. Eating dates in odd numbers before the Eid prayer:

Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه said: "The Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ would not go out on the day of Eid al-Fitr until he had eaten some dates. He would eat them in odd numbers." (Sahih al-Bukhari 953)

4. Walking to the prayer:

Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما said: "The Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ would go out for Eid walking and return walking." (Sunan Ibn Majah 1078)

5. Walking on a different path to and from the prayer:

Jabir ibn Abd ‘Allah رضي الله عنهما said: "When it was the day of Eid, the Prophet ‎ﷺ would take a different path [there and back]." (Sahih al-Bukhari 986)

6. Making Takbeer on the day of Eid from leaving one’s home until the Eid prayer:

al-Zuhri رحمه الله said: "The Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ would go out on the day of Eid and continue to make Takbeer until he reached the prayer place. He would also continue to make Takbeer until the prayer was finished. Once the prayer was finished, he would stop making Takbeer." (Silsilat al-Sahihah 171)

7. Listening to the sermon (Khutbah)

Abd ‘Allah ibn al-Saa'ib رضي الله عنه said: "I attended the Eid prayer with the Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ and he led us in the Eid prayer. Then he said: 'We have completed the prayer. Whoever wishes to sit for the sermon can sit, and whoever wishes to leave can do so.'" (Sahih al-Jami' 4376)

8. Exchanging Greetings

Jubayr ibn Nufayr رضي الله عنه said: "The companions of the Prophet ‎ﷺ used to say to each other when they met on the day of Eid: تقبل الله منا ومنكم (May Allah accept from us and from you)." (Tamaam al-Minnah 354)

As we welcome the sight of the new moon, may Allaah سبحانه وتعالى fill this month with imaan, peace, blessings, and protection for us all.

اللهم أهله علينا باليمن والإيمان والسلامة والإسلام

May it be a month of خير, رحمة, and forgiveness. Ameen.

From the qualities of the people of Jannah is humility and love for being unknown. They do not chase titles, fame, or worldly status, nor do they measure their worth by how people see them. Their concern is not to be great in the eyes of creation, but to be accepted and honored in the sight of the Creator.

They humble themselves, avoid showing off, and prefer to remain unnoticed, because they know that real honor is with Allaah سبحانه وتعالى alone. So purify your intention, seek closeness to Allaah, سبحانه وتعالى and do not let your heart be attached to praise, positions, or recognition. Whoever becomes small before Allaah سبحانه وتعالى, Allaah سبحانه وتعالى raises him, and whoever seeks honor with Allaah سبحانه وتعالى , Allaah سبحانه وتعالى grants him the highest honor in this world and the Hereafter.

The Muqaddimah of Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani is the introductory section of the famous book al-Risalah, written by Imam Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani (d. 386 AH). In this introduction, the author presents the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jamaah in a clear, concise, and simple manner.

This Muqaddimah particularly discusses Tawheed, the Divine Attributes, faith (Imaan), predestination (qadar), prophethood, the Hereafter, and the position of the Companions (رضي الله عنهم) according to Ahl al-Sunnah. For this reason, it is regarded in Maaliki scholarly circles as a foundational text on Sunni creed.

Due to his great scholarly status, Imam Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani is also known as Maalik al-Sagheer. This Muqaddimah has been taught in Islamic seminaries for centuries, and numerous commentaries have been written on it.

In short, the Muqaddimah of Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani is a concise, reliable, and highly beneficial summary of authentic Sunni belief, equally valuable for students of knowledge and the general Muslim public.
