First fertiliser freight train arrives at Anantnag Terminal in south Kashmir

Northern Railway's Jammu Division achieved another milestone in freight transportation on Tuesday with the arrival of the first fertiliser train at South Kashmir’s Anantnag Goods Terminal, strengthening the agricultural supply chain in the valley, an official said.

Mother of DIG Altaf Khan, SSP Zubair Khan Passes Away in Srinagar

The mother of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Altaf Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zubair Khan passed away in Srinagar on Friday, officials said.

Family sources said that she breathed her last after a brief illness. Condolences have poured in from senior police officers, colleagues and well-wishers, who expressed solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.

The Centre on Wednesday notified February 1 as the date from which higher levies on to***co products and a new cess on pan masala will come into force.

Under the new regime, the additional taxes will be charged over and above the existing Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates and will replace the GST compensation cess currently imposed on these so-called sin goods. From February 1, pan masala, ci******es, to***co and similar products will attract a GST rate of 40 per cent, while biris will be taxed at 18 per cent, as per the notification.

Indian Railways has informed that this year, loading reached more than 17,000 rakes till the 30th of November, ensuring uninterrupted supply to farmers across the country.
