*Illegal Mining Activity Busted, Vehicles Seized by Anantnag Police*

Anantnag, November 8, 2025:
Continuing its drive against illegal mining activities, Anantnag Police seized two vehicles — one dumper and one tractor — found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from the area.

The vehicles were intercepted by a police team from Police Station Achabal during routine checking. Upon verification, both vehicles were found engaged in illegal mining activity, in violation of existing mining and environmental laws. Accordingly, cases under the relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Achabal, and further investigation has been set into motion.

The general public is once again advised to refrain from indulging in illegal mining or transportation of minerals. Such activities not only cause ecological damage but also attract strict legal action. Anantnag Police remain committed to curbing this menace and ensuring the protection of natural resources in the district.

Protests in Krangsoo, Anantnag Over Prolonged Power Outage Despite Smart Meters

Anantnag, Nov 7:
Residents of Krangsoo village in Anantnag have taken to the streets in protest, alleging that despite the installation of smart meters in the area, they have been without electricity for the past fifteen days.

Locals claimed that their area has been disconnected from the Toon electricity feeder, while nearby Nasib Basti has been connected to the Gopalpora village feeder, leaving Krangsoo in complete darkness.

Frustrated residents warned that if the unscheduled power cuts continue, they would be forced to break the smart meters and draw electricity directly, similar to nearby villages that reportedly use power without meters.

When contacted, Bashir Ahmed, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Power Development Corporation Limited (JkPDCL.TDCL), said that the outage occurred due to a damaged transmission cable.
“The damaged cable has now been replaced, and the area will receive electricity as per the regular schedule,” he assured.
