Severe traffic congestion continues to plague the Ashajipora–Mehandikadal bypass, particularly near the Mehandi Kadal Library, as eyewitnesses report that Sumo drivers frequently stop in the middle of the road to pick up and drop off passengers. The practice often results in traffic snarls lasting for hours, causing inconvenience to commuters.

Social activist Tariq Veeri highlighted the recurring problem, stating, “We regularly witness traffic jams on the Ashajipora–Mehandi Kadal bypass, especially from the Library stretch up to Sadar Police Station Anantnag.”

He further emphasized that similar to the effective measures taken by authorities to clear the Mehandi Kadal–Janglat Mandi road—where traffic congestion has now eased—similar action is urgently needed near the Mehandi Kadal Library to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
