*1 Killed, Another Injured In Pahalgam Road Accident*

Srinagar, July 17(GNS): One person was killed while as another was injured in a road accident in Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.

Officials told GNS that today at Lidroo Pahalgam link road, a Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK03M-8330 lost its control and turned turtle.

In this incident, driver and a co-passenger were injured, both where shifted to SDH Pahalgam where one of the injured namely Urjeel Singh son of Trilok Singh resident of Nigeenpora Tral was declared brought dead. Whereas driver namely Manjeet Singh son of Joginder Singh resident of Nowgam Singhpora was referred to GMC Anantnag for further treatment.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.(GNS)

*Amarnath Yatra: Woman pilgrim dies, 3 injured in landslide*

Srinagar, Jul 17 (KNO): A woman pilgrim lost her life while three others sustained injuries in a landslide along Baltal route of Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district while authorities have suspended the Yatra temporarily due to safety concerns, officials said.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the landslide occurred at Z-mode, near Upper Railpathri, sweeping several pilgrims downhill along the Baltal axis, leading to the holy cave.

The injured were rushed to the Baltal base camp hospital, where a woman was declared dead on the arrival.

The deceased has been identified as Sona Bhai, wife of Dara Ram, a resident of Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, the authorities said that no fresh batch of pilgrims will be allowed to proceed from Jammu towards the holy cave today.

The decision was taken in view of landslides and heavy rainfall along the Yatra route—(KNO)

*Several Feared Dead as Tempo Traveller Falls into Gorge in Ponda, Doda*

Doda, July 15 (JKNS): A tragic road accident occurred in the Ponda area along the Doda-Barath road on Tuesday, after a tempo traveller bearing registration number JK06-4847 skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge.

An official told news agency JKNS, Reportedly multiple casualties are feared, though the exact number of deaths and injuries is yet to be confirmed. The vehicle was carrying several passengers at the time of the accident.

Rescue operations were immediately launched by local police, and volunteers, with authorities rushing to the scene to assist in retrieving the victims and providing emergency medical aid.

Official further said that more details will be shared once the rescue operation concludes and identification of the victims is complete.

Pahalgam, June 14 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday announced reopening of eight tourist destinations in Kashmir.

Talking to reporters here in South Kashmir, LG Sinha, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Tourist destinations were closed after April 22 terror attack as a precautionary measure. After assessing the situation it has been decided that the closed destinations will be reopened for tourists in phased manner.”

LG Sinha said that to begin with it has been decided that Betab Valley, Verinag, Kokerrnag and Achabal gardens, parks in Pahalgam market will the thrown open for public in Anantnag District.

While in Srinagar, Badamwari, Duck Park and Taqdeer Park near Hazratbal will be reopened.

LG Sinha exuded hope that the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra will help in reviving tourism in Kashmir. “I urge people to come forward and make annual pilgrimage successful,” he said.

“This is your Yatra. It will help in improving your economy and reviving tourism.”—(KNO)

An Air India flight to London crashed shortly after take-off at the Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon.

The flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carried 242 people, including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Visuals from the area showed thick black smoke filling the area.
