Traders Federation Anantnag Visits MMAB Hospital, GMC Anantnag; Authorities Assure Key Reforms, Chairman Urges Recruitment of 100 Vacant Posts
A high-level delegation of the Traders Federation Anantnag, led by its Chairman Sajjad Ahmad Hakeem, along with the General Secretary Sajad Ahmad Lone and Executive Members, today paid an official visit to MMAB Hospital, GMC Anantnag to follow up on the public issues raised in the memorandum addressed to the Principal, Government Medical College Anantnag, regarding the daily functioning of the hospital.
During the visit, the delegation held a detailed and constructive interaction with the Medical Superintendent, the Head of the Paediatric Department, and the Media Coordinator, GMC Anantnag. The delegation highlighted key public grievances related to emergency services, OPD and IPD management, availability of senior doctors during night shifts, diagnostic facilities, sanitation, prescription practices, and overall patient facilitation.
The hospital authorities responded in a highly positive, cooperative, and constructive manner and gave the following important assurances:
• ✅ Emergency Services will be treated on TOP PRIORITY with strengthened staffing and responsiveness.
• ✅ More ticket counters will be installed shortly for patient convenience.
• ✅ A Prescription Audit Committee will conduct regular audits.
• ✅ Doctors will ensure that all prescriptions are written in CAPITAL and clear, legible handwriting.
• ✅ Female technical staff will be deployed for ECG services to ensure the comfort and dignity of female patients.
The Chairman also strongly urged the Health & Medical Education Department to immediately recruit nearly 100 vacant posts at GMC Anantnag, stating that the acute staff shortage is directly affecting patient care, especially in emergency and critical departments. He stressed that timely recruitment is essential to ease the burden on the existing workforce and to provide quality medical treatment to the public.
The Chairman emphasized that GMC Anantnag caters to thousands of patients daily, particularly poor and underprivileged patients coming from far-flung and rural areas of South Kashmir, Pir Panchal region including Kishtwar, Ramban, and Banihal, and therefore strengthening manpower and infrastructure is a humanitarian necessity.
The Traders Federation Anantnag expressed full satisfaction over the patient-friendly and proactive approach of the hospital administration and wholeheartedly appreciated the cooperation of:
• The Medical Superintendent
• The HOD, Paediatric Department
• The Media Coordinator, GMC Anantnag
for their assurance of visible and time-bound improvements.
While addressing the media, Chairman Sajjad Ahmad Hakeem stated:
“Our memorandum and today’s visit were purely aimed at public welfare. We are satisfied with the assurances given by the Principal and the hospital authorities. At the same time, we strongly urge the Health Department to fill nearly 100 vacant posts at GMC Anantnag without delay so that patients, especially from far-flung areas, do not suffer.”
The Traders Federation Anantnag reaffirmed its commitment to work as a bridge between the public and the administration for the continuous improvement of medical services in Anantnag.
