🚨 WhatsApp & Telegram Users in India — This Affects YOU!
From March 1, 2026, the Indian government's new SIM Binding Rule is officially in effect.
Here's what you need to know:
🔵 Your WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal & other messaging apps will ONLY work when the registered SIM card is physically inside your phone.
🔵 Take out or deactivate your SIM → your messaging apps will stop working automatically.
🔵 Using WhatsApp Web or any desktop version? You'll be logged out automatically every 6 hours and will need to scan the QR code again.
🔵 Good news for travellers: If you're roaming but your SIM is still in the phone, you won't be affected.
Why this rule?
The government says millions of Indians have fallen victim to cyber fraud, digital arrest scams, and banking fraud carried out through messaging apps using fake numbers. This rule links every account to a verified SIM — making fraudsters easier to trace.
However, tech giants like Meta and Google are legally challenging this move, calling it unconstitutional.
