District Police Shopian Organises Thana Diwas at Chotipora Sedow

District Police Shopian organised a “Thana Diwas” programme at Chotipora Sedow, with a focus on public outreach . A large number of local residents participated in the programme and raised their grievances, concerns and issues directly before SSP Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary. The SSP patiently listened to the participants and assured them that all genuine grievances would be addressed and resolved in accordance with the law.

DYSP Headquarters Imtiyaz Ahmad, SHO Heerpora Shabir Ahmad and several other police officers were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the programme, SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary stressed the importance of maintaining peace, harmony and a secure environment in the area. He said that the police are committed to ensuring a peaceful atmosphere where children can pursue quality education and build a better future.

Bakiaker Bridge Near Handwara Nears Completion, But Non-Availability of Nallah Boulders Halts Crucial River Training WorkHANDWARA — The long-awaited Bakiaker Bridge project, designed to connect several vital rural pockets with the sub-district headquarters of Handwara, has hit a major bottleneck. While the executing agency, Hafiz Construction Company Private Limited, has successfully completed the core substructure, superstructure, and nearly all approach road work, the final phase remains at a standstill due to an acute shortage of raw materials.Hafiz Construction Company Private Limited reported that crucial river training and embankment protection works are completely frozen because nallah boulders and stones are unavailable in the region.
The final opening of the bridge hinges on the completion of the river training works, which protect the bridge foundations from flash floods and strong currents along the volatile local stream.Desperate to break the deadlock, management at Hafiz Construction Company Private Limited has formally escalated the issue to multiple tiers of government infrastructure bodies, seeking immediate intervention:R&B Division Office, HandwaraOffice of the Superintending Engineer (SE)Office of the Chief Engineer (CE), PW(R&B) KashmirFurthermore, coordination requests have been sent to neighboring District Mineral Offices (DMOs) to facilitate the procurement and transportation of required stone boulders across district lines.
Field engineers and supervisors from Hafiz Construction Company Private Limited state they are fully prepared to finish the remaining project within days once the R&B department coordinates with the Geology and Mining Department to grant immediate material clearances. Until then, local commuters remain stuck utilizing an incomplete and restricted path

Meanwhile, the residents of Bakiaker appealed to the Mining and Geology Department to grant material clearance to the concerned agency so that the pending work on the bridge can be completed at the earliest. The residents said that the completion of the work would help prevent them from facing further difficulties and inconvenience.

*DC Rajouri directs for making comprehensive arrangements for Janmashtami celebrations*

‎‎RAJOURI, SEPTEMBER 02: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today convened a meeting to review the preparedness for Janmashtami celebrations and issued directions to concerned departments for ensuring safe, smooth and well-coordinated festivities across the district.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for making available adequate public amenities and essential services. The Jal Shakti Department was directed to ensure uninterrupted water availability, including deployment of water tankers wherever required.

‎‎The Health Department was asked to keep ambulances and medical teams readily available at key locations to provide medical support during the celebrations.

‎‎The Municipal authorities were asked to undertake cleanliness and sanitation measures at places expected to witness large gatherings. For effective traffic management, the DySP Traffic was directed to take steps for effective regulation of vehicular movement and identification of designated parking areas to prevent congestion and inconvenience to the public.

‎‎The Fire & Emergency Services Department was instructed to position fire tenders at strategic locations as a precautionary measure and ensure prompt response in case of any emergency.

‎‎The Deputy Commissioner also directed the ADCs and SDM Thanamandi to ensure similar arrangements in their respective subdivisions and personally monitor the preparations to facilitate peaceful and hassle-free Janmashtami celebrations across the district.

‎‎SSP Naresh Singh, ADC Ravi Kumar Sihag, ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan, DySP Traffic Mohammad Aijaz, DySP Headquarter and other concerned officers attended the meeting, while other officers participated through virtual mode.

Training cm Input Distribution Programme Successfully Organised at KVK Kupwara.

KVK Kupwara, in collaboration with Regional Fodder Station, Shuhama, organised a productive Training-cum-Input Distribution Programme for progressive farmers of the district. Around 200 farmers participated and received valuable technical guidance along with critical inputs. Resource persons from KVK Kupwara and Regional Fodder Station, Shuhama imparted first-hand practical training on improved fodder grasses, scientific fodder production techniques, and related aspects of livestock nutrition. The programme was graced by Prof. Sher Ahmed Dar, Associate Director Extension (Agri.), SKUAST-K, as the Chief Guest. Dr. G.M. Bhat, Head, KVK Kupwara, and Mr. Ashish Verma from Regional Fodder Station, Shuhama, also addressed the gathering and interacted with the farmers. Such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening the fodder security of the region and supporting the livelihoods of our farming community.

Shopian Traders’ Association Urges Administration to Complete Pending Works at Street Vendors’ Market Before Winter
Shopian: President of the Shopian Traders & Manufacturers Association, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, has appealed to the District Administration Shopian to expedite and complete all pending developmental works at the newly established Street Vendors’ Market before the onset of winter.
Bhat said that while the establishment of the dedicated market is a welcome initiative aimed at providing a designated space for street vendors, several essential works at the site are still pending.
He urged the administration to ensure that the remaining infrastructure and basic facilities are completed at the earliest so that vendors can operate in a safe and convenient environment, particularly during the harsh winter months.
The Traders’ Association President stressed that timely completion of the pending works would not only benefit the vendors but also contribute to better regulation of street vending and help maintain a more organised market environment in Shopian town.
He expressed hope that the District Administration would take the matter on priority and ensure that all necessary works are completed before the arrival of winter.

Qaziabad, September 2: MLA Langate Sheikh Khurshid Ahmad today inaugurated the development work of a playfield at Ganapora, Qaziabad, at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sheikh Khurshid Ahmad said that the development of sports infrastructure is essential to provide local youth with better opportunities to participate in sports and showcase their talent.
He emphasized that such facilities will encourage youngsters to remain engaged in positive and constructive activities, while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
The development of the playfield is expected to provide children and youth of the area with a dedicated space for sports and recreational activities.

Local residents and youth welcomed the initiative and expressed their gratitude to MLA Sheikh Khurshid Ahmad for addressing their long-pending demand for a proper playfield in the area.
