I was nine months pregnant, ready to deliver any day, and the only thing missing from the nursery was the crib. For weeks, I asked my husband, Tom, to assemble it. Each time, he gave the same answer: "I'll get to it tomorrow."
But tomorrow never came.
One evening, after yet another empty promise, I’d had enough. I waddled into the room, dragged the heavy box over, and started building the crib myself.
Halfway through, Tom walked in. He glanced at me, shrugged, and said, “See? You didn’t need me. Why’d you even ask?”
I was livid. But instead of arguing, I stayed quiet and finished the crib.
What he didn’t realize was that while I built that crib, I was also building something else — a plan to teach him a lesson he’d never forget.
