As a freelancer and mom of three in a joint family, Iโve practically mastered the art of nurturing relationships. No matter if itโs about helping my kids navigate life, maintaining relationships with in-laws, and everyone around me, or with clients as a freelancer, the rules are all the same.
I must say, these rules are applicable while building a Facebook network too!
And why is this so?
Building a Facebook network is not about collecting and having thousands of connections. If you ask me, itโs all about creating a close-knit community of people so comfortable with one another, that it feels like family.
And hereโs how Iโve done it:
Just like at home, you canโt fake it. My Facebook profile tells my storyโ24 years online as a freelancer, raising three kids, and my passion for helping others build their personal brands. People connect with real stories, not polished perfection.
Parenting taught me that consistency builds trust as I was always there for my family. The same applies to Facebook, showing up consistently by sharing posts, engaging with others too, commenting on posts, sharing insights, and celebrating othersโ wins, we build trust.
I always have and had to give my time, energy, and love freely at home, and do the same on Facebook. I share tips, resources, and advice without expecting anything in return. And that is the heart of social selling.
Just like I always cheered my kidsโ milestones, I make it a point to celebrate my connectionsโ achievements. A simple โcongratulationsโ goes a long way in building a meaningful relationship.
Last, but not least, have patience. All relationships take time. Donโt rush it. Focus on building trust, and the rest will follow. (Iโm sure every parent, especially a teen parent will agree to this!)
Today, my Facebook network feels like family. I donโt just connect, I make it a point to hop on a call to get to know one another better. In short, Facebook is a place where I share, learn, and grow with people who genuinely care.
If youโre looking to build a network that feels like family, start with authenticity, consistency, and generosity. It doesnโt matter where you are, or who is in the network, the process is the same.
So these are my thoughts about building a network on Facebook. Iโm curious to know what secrets you have to build meaningful connections. Letโs share and grow together.
