We celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and Paryushan together!
For me, Ganesh Chaturthi is mainly about family. Itโs one of those rare times when everyone actually comes together under one roof. We gather at my house in Davangere, bring Ganesha home, make modakas, have bale ele oota and just enjoy being together. That joy of praying, eating, and celebrating as a family is what makes it so special for me.
For Vinit, itโs very different. During Paryushan, he observes Choviyar Upvas - which means he doesnโt have food or water the entire day. He started his fast last night and will continue the whole day today without food or water, breaking it only tomorrow morning. In between, he spends time in prayer and Pratikaman and when he says Micchฤmi Dukkaแธaแน, it reminds me how his way of celebrating is all about forgiveness and peace.
So while Iโm here celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, heโs observing Paryushan in silence and discipline. Two festivals, two very different paths - yet we celebrate together, each in our own way, respecting and supporting how the other chooses to celebrate - Thatโs the beauty of it!
And this is our 7th year of doing it together โจ
