NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan has won the Vice Presidential election and has been elected as the 17th Vice President. He has won by winning 452 votes.
Currently, everyone is congratulating NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan on his victory in the Vice Presidential election. Members of the BJP and other NDA parties, including Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, J.P. Nadda, are congratulating the new Vice President. Meanwhile, members of opposition parties are also congratulating him.
India candidate Sudarshan Reddy has suffered defeat. He got only 300 votes. Thus, Sudarshan Reddy has suffered defeat against NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan. The election was held today for the seat vacated by Jagdeep Dhankar's resignation from the post of Vice President. Sudarshan Reddy contested from the India Alliance, while Radhakrishnan contested as the NDA candidate. C.P. Radhakrishnan has been elected as the Vice President of India. Radhakrishnan had entered the fray as the NDA candidate. He was expected to win from the beginning. Accordingly, he won the election today. Sudarshan Reddy, who was the candidate of the India Alliance, had secured 300 votes. Therefore, he had to suffer defeat by a margin of 152 votes.
Jagdeep Dhankar, who was the 16th Vice President, had recently resigned from his post citing ill health. The Vice President election was held today for the post vacated by his resignation. Out of the total 767 votes, 14 votes of the opposition parties were cast. Out of the remaining 752 votes, 452 votes went to the NDA and 300 votes went to the India Alliance.
Born in 1957 in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan has been serving as the Governor of Maharashtra since July 2024. He had previously served as the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024. During his tenure as the Governor of Jharkhand, he held additional charge as the Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. He was elected from the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency in 1998 and was re-elected from the same constituency in 1999. He served as the President of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit from 2004 to 2007. He was the in-charge of the BJP Kerala unit from 2020 to 2022.
