Baramulla Police Conduct TII Contingency Response Lockdown Rehearsal at Bus Stand Baramulla

Baramulla Police today conducted a TII Contingency Response Lockdown Rehearsal at Baramulla Town Bus Stand to check the preparedness and response of security and emergency agencies during a simulated emergency situation.

The rehearsal was conducted under the supervision of SP Operations Baramulla and coordinated by DySP Operations Baramulla. The exercise focused on testing response time, communication, coordination and the ability of different teams to work together during an emergency.

The rehearsal saw active participation from SOG Baramulla, SOG Sheeri, CRPF 53 Bn, OCAPS Baramulla, 46 RR, BSF112 Bn, Police Station Baramulla, Police Station Sheeri, Police Post Old Town, Fire & Emergency Services, GMC Baramulla, MI room DPL Baramulla, BSD/AST/PSK9, SDRF Baramulla along with other concerned personnel.

The exercise also helped identify gaps and areas requiring improvement in the existing response system. The participating teams reviewed their preparedness and coordination to ensure a quick and effective response to any contingency.

Baramulla Police will continue to conduct such exercises to further strengthen preparedness, coordination and public safety.

IGP KASHMIR REVIEWS SECURITY, LAW & ORDER AND CRIME SCENARIO IN BARAMULLA & SOPORE

September 13: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri Sujit Kumar-IPS, today visited District Baramulla and Police District Sopore and chaired separate review meetings to assess the prevailing security scenario, counter-terrorism grid, law & order preparedness, crime situation and overall operational preparedness.

IGP Kashmir was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Dr Vinod Kumar-IPS.

During the first leg of his visit, IGP Kashmir visited District Baramulla, where he paid homage to the fallen heroes at the Martyrs’ Memorial, District Police Lines Baramulla, and remembered their supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

Thereafter, IGP Kashmir chaired a comprehensive security and operational review meeting at Baramulla. SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh-IPS briefed the IGP regarding the prevailing security scenario, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, intelligence inputs, area domination measures, security of vulnerable locations, law & order preparedness and crime situation in the district. All Gazetted Officers of District Police Baramulla attended the meeting and briefed IGP Kashmir regarding their respective areas of responsibility and operational assignments.

Shri Sujit Kumar stressed upon strengthening intelligence generation at the grassroots level and conducting intelligence-based specific operations against terrorists and the terror ecosystem. He emphasised maintaining sustained operational pressure, adopting a proactive and coordinated approach, and underscored the importance of effective surveillance, fine-tuned naka/interception mechanisms, and close coordination among field formations.

As part of his visit to Baramulla, IGP Kashmir also inspected Police Station Baramulla to review its functioning. Shri Sujit Kumar impressed upon the officers and personnel to ensure professional and responsive policing, effective crime prevention and investigation, proper maintenance of records and prompt redressal of public grievances.

Later, IGP Kashmir visited Police District Sopore, where SSP Sopore Sh Iftikhar Talib-JKPS, along with SDPOs and DySsP Operations, presented a detailed briefing on the prevailing security scenario and measures being undertaken across various fronts.

Concluding the visit, IGP Kashmir appreciated the efforts of the officers and personnel across both districts and exhorted them to continue working with professionalism, vigilance and commitment towards maintaining a peaceful and secure environment.

IGP Kashmir Shri Sujit Kumar-IPS visits Kulgam and Shopian districts; reviews Security, Crime, Counter-Terrorism operations, and Law & Order scenario, Inspects Sub-Division D.H. Pora

September 10​: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shri Sujit Kumar-IPS today visited twin districts of South Kashmir including Kulgam and Shopian to comprehensively assess the security landscape, counter terrorism grid, crime mitigation efforts, and general law & order scenario. On his visit, IGP Kashmir was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range, Shri Javed Iqbal Mattoo-IPS.

During the visit, IGP Kashmir chaired security and crime review meetings in both districts, attended by respective Senior Superintendents of Police along with other senior and jurisdictional gazetted police officers. The SSsP of Kulgam and Shopian presented comprehensive briefings outlining the prevailing security situation, status of anti terror operations, counter insurgency grids, crime prevention strategies, and steps taken to uphold public order.

​Reviewing operational preparedness, Shri Sujit Kumar emphasized the imperative need for robust, proactive intelligence gathering, close inter agency coordination, and swift, decisive responses to neutralize emerging security challenges. Shri Sujit Kumar instructed field formations to sustain pressure on terrorist ecosystems and maintain zero tolerance against inimical elements attempting to disturb peace and public order.

​As part of the tour, IGP Kashmir also visited rural Sub-Division D.H. Pora in district Kulgam, where he held an interactive session with local jurisdictional supervisory officers, station house officers, and jawans of Special Operations Group.

Baramulla Police Conduct Thana Diwas and PCPG Meetings Across 30 Locations

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen police-public relations and address issues of local communities, Baramulla Police conducted Thana Diwas and Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meetings at 30 locations across the district.

The meetings were held at Gutiyar, Nowrang (Narandari), Poshbagh, Taripora Wasran, Chinnad, Suhail Colony Aribaba, Zadi Mohalla, Mamoosa, Mehmoodpora, Devar, Saderbal, Nowlari, Sehkoul, Check Tapper, Chanderseer, Rajpora, Durhama, Gratbal Daji, Pandoori, Heer, Devipora, Kung Doori, Badian, Kassi, Dawaran, Bagh-i-Dudran, Kathil A & B, Isham and Shahdara.

During the meetings, police officers interacted with local residents, listened to their concerns and discussed issues related to public safety, crime prevention, drug abuse, traffic management and other matters affecting the community.
Participants were encouraged to maintain close coordination with Police and share timely information regarding suspicious activities and local issues.

Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment to responsive policing, community participation and maintaining a safe and secure environment across the district.

Baramulla Police Strengthen Anti-Drug Awareness; Programme Held at Sheikhpora

As part of its continued efforts to create awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society, Drug De-Addiction Centre, Baramulla, in collaboration with Police Station Kreeri, organised a Drug De-Addiction Awareness Programme at Government Higher Secondary School, Sheikhpora, under the banner of “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.”

The programme witnessed active and enthusiastic participation of students and teaching staff. During the programme, participants were sensitised about the harmful effects of drug abuse and its serious physical, psychological and social consequences, particularly on young minds and families.

The speakers emphasised the importance of early awareness, responsible choices and timely support for individuals affected by substance abuse. Students were also encouraged to stay away from drugs, adopt healthy lifestyles and contribute towards creating a safer and drug-free environment in their communities.

The programme further highlighted the importance of collective efforts by police, educational institutions, families and the community in preventing drug abuse and supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of persons affected by addiction.

The programme concluded peacefully with a renewed commitment from all participants to work together towards a drug-free society and a healthier future for the younger generation.
