Srinagar MBBS Student Saba Rasool Dies in Iran
Srinagar, Aug 15 — Tragedy struck Safakadal, Srinagar, as 27-year-old MBBS student Saba Rasool, pursuing her fourth year at Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Iran, passed away following health complications.

Family sources said Saba had been unwell for two days, complaining of pain, and was admitted to a hospital in Iran. Despite treatment, she succumbed around 3:00 am last night.

Her grieving family has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of External Affairs for urgent repatriation of her mortal remains to Kashmir for last rites.

The J&K Students Association has also written to External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, alleging possible gross medical negligence and urging both a swift repatriation and a transparent probe.

Friends claim Saba suffered from nausea and vomiting for days, faced delays in ambulance arrival and hospital admission, and received inadequate monitoring before her condition worsened. Doctors later cited fulminant hepatic failure and pulmonary complications as the cause of death.

Association representatives stressed that this is “a desperate plea from a devastated family” and called for immediate intervention to ensure Saba’s return home and justice over the circumstances of her death.

*Uri, August 14*: Senior Congress leader from Uri, Khalid Mehraj Lone, has extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day, calling it a moment of pride, unity, and reflection for every Indian.

In his message, Khalid Mehraj Lone paid glorious tribute to the valiant freedom fighters whose sacrifices paved the way for India’s independence. “It is because of their unwavering courage, determination, and patriotism that we breathe in a free nation today. We must honor their legacy by safeguarding the values of democracy, justice, and harmony,” he said.

Expressing deep sorrow over the recent tragic cloudburst in Kishtwar, which claimed numerous lives, Lone conveyed heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families. “This calamity has brought immense grief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts and prayers are with the affected families in this hour of tragedy. I urge the administration to extend all possible relief and rehabilitation measures to the victims,” he added.

Lone reaffirmed his commitment to work for the welfare of the people of Uri and Jammu & Kashmir, stressing the importance of unity, compassion, and resilience in overcoming challenges.
