4,600+ Runners Lace Up for Tata Steel Joda Run-a-thon 2025
November 23: The second edition of the Tata Steel Joda Run-a-thon saw an overwhelming response, with over 4,600 runners from across the country participating in the event held at the Central Playground of Joda Municipality area. The event's theme, 'Green Today, Greener Tomorrow,' emphasized the importance of sustainability and environmental consciousness.
The winners of the various categories were:
- 10K Men's: Prashant Choudhary (Uttar Pradesh)
- 10K Women's: Basanti Kumari (Jharkhand)
- 7K Men's: Dhiraj Kumar (Uttar Pradesh)
- 7K Women's: Basanti Mandia (Odisha)
- 5K Boys': Uday Melgandi (Jharkhand)
- 5K Girls': Mamta Kumari (Odisha)
The event was flagged off by dignitaries including Jagdish Kumar Sahu, Joda Municipality Chairman, and Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager, OMQ, Tata Steel. Speaking at the event, D DHanumanta, Keonjhar DFO, praised Tata Steel for organizing the run, saying it promotes health and fitness awareness and fosters a marathon culture.
The event featured various categories, including 10K and 7K runs for men and women (15 years and above), and a 5K run for boys and girls under 16 years. A special 2K run category was also included for Divyangs, with 84 participants from across the region taking part.
The total prize money pool was ₹5,67,000, with winners receiving medals, certificates, and cash prizes. The event was appreciated by the local community, with Jagdish Kumar Sahu, Joda Municipality Chairman, thanking Tata Steel for organizing the event and promoting physical well-being and community bonding.
