Lucknow: Taking exception to hateful trolling of foreign secretary Vikram Misri and his family following India's ceasefire agreement with Pakistan, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has questioned Centre's silence on the issue and accused the BJP of not defending Misri's honour.
"Decisions are taken by the govt, not any individual bureaucrat. This is extremely sensitive, condemnable, disgraceful, objectionable and unfortunate that a senior bureaucrat and his family are being subjected to such deplorable abusive language. Neither the BJP govt nor any of its ministers have come forward to demand action against those behind such posts," Akhilesh wrote on his X account.

"Such online trolls lower the morale of dedicated bureaucrats who work hard to serve the country. Is it that the BJP govt wants to hide its failures and shift the focus on to someone else to escape public embarrassment," Akhilesh asked.

Demanding thorough investigation of the social media accounts involved in trolling Misri and his family, Akhilesh said the bank accounts of such people should also be checked to trace the flow of funds. "CBI, ED, cyber security units and other agencies should unmask those behind trolling," Akhilesh said.
