Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s proposed US leg has been cancelled after the Union government denied political clearance for the visit.

Reddy, who is currently on a UK tour, was scheduled to travel to the US to explore partnerships with leading American educational institutions. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the proposed programme was not considered appropriate for the office held and its purpose, and therefore political clearance was not granted.

Reddy’s UK visit has been cleared and will conclude as scheduled. Responding to the development, Reddy said he believed in looking “beyond politics and elections” when it comes to nation-building and the future of Telangana’s youth.

TikTok has agreed to pay USD 400 million to settle a US Department of Justice lawsuit alleging violations of federal children’s privacy laws.

Under the settlement, TikTok will pay USD 300 million immediately, with another USD 100 million to be paid after an earlier consent decree involving its predecessor Musical.ly is vacated. The 2024 lawsuit alleged that TikTok and its parent company ByteDance collected personal information from children under 13 without proper parental consent and failed to delete accounts despite requests from parents.

India head coach, Gautam Gambhir has made it clear that he has little interest in winning the popularity contest surrounding Indian cricket, insisting his job is not to chase rankings, respond to criticism or worry about how the team's performances are perceived. Instead there is only one measure that ultimately matters.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s planned US leg has been called off after the Ministry of External Affairs denied political clearance, his office said.

Reddy had begun a 10-day UK-US visit on August 20 with a ‘Telangana Rising’ delegation to pursue partnerships with leading global educational institutions. He will now return to Hyderabad from London on August 23 instead of travelling to Boston.

Reacting to the decision, Reddy said development, the future of young people and nation-building should remain above political differences.

While the delegation will continue with its US itinerary, Reddy has asked it to pursue proposed MoUs with institutions including Harvard, MIT, Northeastern University and Virginia Tech.

During his London visit, Reddy is also scheduled to meet representatives of Oxford, Cambridge and other leading universities. He said his goal is to make Hyderabad a global knowledge hub and bring world-class education and skills institutions to Telangana, rather than sending Indian students abroad for such opportunities.
