Massive Fire Guts Four Houses at Nafra’s IB Colony

Nafra, June 8:

A major fire incident triggered panic at IB Colony in Nafra on Monday evening after flames engulfed several residential structures, leaving four houses completely destroyed.

The fire reportedly broke out around 7:15 PM and spread rapidly through the area. Witnesses said multiple LPG cylinders exploded during the blaze, causing the flames to intensify and making it difficult for locals to control the situation.

Residents, assisted by police personnel, rushed to the spot and worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further. However, with no firefighting unit available in the area, efforts to contain the blaze faced significant challenges.

While the incident resulted in heavy loss of property, no injuries or loss of life have been reported so far. Authorities and local residents remained engaged in efforts to bring the fire under control, amid fears that nearby houses could also be at risk.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. An investigation is expected to be carried out to ascertain how the incident occurred.

The All Monpa Students’ Union (AMSU) successfully concluded its Federal Meet at Dirang with the participation of the Chief Advisor, Advisors, District Students’ Unions of Tawang and West Kameng, Branch Students’ Unions, Federal Units, and Executive Members.

The programme commenced with the playing of the Mon Kul Geet, followed by a welcome address by Deputy Speaker Shri Dawa Norbu. AMSU President addressed the gathering and highlighted key objectives of the Federal Meet. The session also included the appointment of the Drafting Committee, discussions on important organizational matters, amendments, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Urgen Dorjee.

The meeting deliberated on the welfare, development, and progress of the Union, with participants sharing valuable suggestions and constructive ideas to strengthen the organization and better serve the student community.

AMSU expressed gratitude to all delegates and members for their active participation and contributions towards the successful conduct of the Federal Meet.

Speakers highlighted key initiatives and accomplishments in the areas of infrastructure development, digital transformation, welfare schemes, national security, and inclusive growth.

Addressing the gathering, leaders emphasized the Government’s vision of a self-reliant and developed India while reaffirming their commitment to serving the people and strengthening grassroots-level engagement.

The final day programme witnessed a large gathering of worshippers who participated in praise and worship sessions, prayers, special offerings, and spiritual reflections. The event was graced by Shri M.F. Bengia, BDO, CD Block Koloriang, as the Guest of Honour, who encouraged believers to remain steadfast in faith and contribute positively to society.

The Word of God was delivered by Rev. Jumto Riba, Pastor of ACPC Jipu, Likhabali, based on the theme “Pray Without Ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Through his message, he emphasized the importance of continuous prayer, spiritual commitment, and unwavering trust in God amidst life's challenges.

Throughout the three-day festival, participants experienced moments of worship, revival, and fellowship, strengthening bonds among believers from different communities and regions.
