With a desire to translate the iconic poems of Odia literature into English, I had translated this popular janana/stuti/bhajan of saint poet Salabeg a few year's ago. With the advent of AI technology , It has been possible for me to get the music composed for the translated song and also the video and pictures for my story board. After continuous labour for about 60 hours and two sleepless nights, I have prepared the song and it's before you to see.
The translation of Salabeg's stuti/janana is given here.
Oh My Blue Mountain Lord
O my Blue Mountain Lord,
Like an elephant in the lotus pond
Who's on the rampage and gone wild
Crush crush O my Lord,
My griefs in water and mud
the lotus under your feet are so mild
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
💝
In waters so deep,
Tight in a crocodile's grip,
The elephant chief called in panic
Just in the span of a while,
You tore apart the crocodile,
With the help of your spinning disk
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
💝
In deep woods was the doe,
Caught between fire and foe,
Her life was in extreme danger
O Supreme Lord, it was You,
Who came to her rescue
When death was almost sure
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
💝
It was all distress galore
The Kurus were to undress her
Draupadi cried for help from the assemblage
Then flowed the unending attire
The sinners were to finally tire
Her modesty could never be outraged
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
💝
Having been driven away
Vibheeshana had no other way
He ran to you for shelter and for freedom
A Sacred war was fought
Ravana had to bite the dust
He was made the king, and Lanka, his kingdom
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
💝
Prahalad, the pious lad,
How devilish was his dad,
an infidel and a wicked non-believer
You revealed from the pillar,
To rend into pieces the evil doer,
O omnipresent Lord, the supreme reliever
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
💝
Me, the meanest of the mean
Having been born as a Muslim
Deprived to see you from near is my only grumble
I am the lowliest of the low
Who stands under your feet to bow
With my prayers and petitions so humble
O my Blue Mountain Lord....
