Sawjak Congratulations to all the readers of ‘Sawjak’ on its maiden issue. Several attempts have been made in the past to bring out a local newspaper.

This is an effort to bring news and information to the residents of Kamalanagar town to begin with. It shall highlight issues of concern to the society and evoke debate on critical issues to churn public opinion in the interest of community welfare. Kamalanagar, headquarters of CADC has a population of more than 10,000 and it is yet to have a newspaper of its own. Unfortunately, all such attempts

could not be sustained due to factors ranging from economic to lack of resource persons.
‘Sawjak’ was initially conceived by Branch YCA, Kamalanagar-3 with permission from SDO, Chawngte, Pu Lalzidinga Ralte while waiting for an opportunity to start the paper. It was with the visit (to Kamalanagar) of the newly posted Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai, Dr. A. Muthamma Lakshmi the need for a local newspaper was expressed yet again by herself. In that meeting she also sought cooperation to setup a public library at Kamalanagar. Young Chakma Association was entrusted in the subsequent meetings at SDO office to work on the ground to get the newspaper published and set the public library running. Pu Lalfakzual, SDO, chawngte pledged all possible help regarding publication of the ‘Sawjak’ and setting up of the public library. Equipment and stationeries for time being will be borne by the SDO office till the newspaper achieves self-sufficiency.

ZPM announces policy, declares to form Government.

The Zoram Peoples Movement (ZPM) on Wednesday launched its Sustainable Development and Reform Policy (SDRP) at Vanapa Hall. ZPM president Lalliansawta said the party hopes to form a government in the 2023 elections.

Lalliansawta said that ZPM was formed before the 2018 MLA elections to form a new system of people's government "We are hoping to form a government with the help of ZPM. Kan policy announced is ZPM's body," he said.

Lalliansawta said, "ZPM does not want to distribute money. We don't want to promise jobs and positions. We want to make everyone self-help there is no grave water," he said; He said that the party's objectives are worthy of joining another party.

ZPM President said, "If Mizoram government continues like this, Mizoram will become a smugglers' freedom zone. We know the length of time and impact of coffee alone "It's dangerous. Without hard work and justice, we can't turn our country around," he said.

ZPM working president K Sapdanga chaired the function. ZPM leader Lalduhoma also spoke. General secretary Dr KC Lalmalsawmzauva explained the policy.

The SDRP is divided into 14 sections - Agriculture & Allied Sector, Industries, Power & Electricity, Transport & Communications, Water, Education, Health & Health Care, Social Security & Welfare, Administrative Reform, Financial Reform, Sports, Tourism, Border etc.
