Michael Owen was one of football’s purest prodigies. A kid who burst onto the scene with pace that looked supernatural, finishing that felt effortless, and a maturity far beyond his age. He moved like defenders didn’t exist. He scored like nerves were a myth. For a moment, he looked like the future of world football.

But Owen’s career will always feel like the story of a king without a kingdom. Injuries took away the body needed for greatness. Transfers never gave him a true home. He had the talent to own an era, yet nothing around him stayed long enough for him to build an empire.

Still… when we look back, we remember the electric runs, the cool finishes, the Ballon d’Or, the goal against Argentina, and the kid who made the world believe he was unstoppable.

A legend whose legacy will always feel both glorious and unfinished and maybe that’s what makes Michael Owen unforgettable.

Paul Scholes remains one of the few midfielders whose influence was better seen than spoken about. He dictated rhythm, broke lines with passes few midfielders even attempted, and controlled matches with a level of calm that felt almost unfair.

When Manchester United pulled him out of retirement, it wasn’t sentimentality. It was necessity. And the fact that he returned from the training staff, put his boots back on and immediately restored control in United’s midfield says everything about his standards.

His comeback wasn’t a story about age or nostalgia — it was a reminder that elite footballing intelligence doesn’t erode. Scholes returned, stabilised the team, and proved once again why players and managers across Europe consistently called him one of the finest midfielders of his generation.

Indian football deserves better. For years, fans, players and coaches have been frustrated by the way the sport is run in our country. From poor grassroots planning to mismanagement, delays, broken pathways, and a federation that moves slower than the game itself — the system drains talent instead of developing it.

Every parent wants their kid to have a fair chance. Every young footballer dreams of a clear pathway. But instead, we deal with unclear selections, questionable decisions, league structures that keep changing, and a leadership model that doesn’t match global standards. When other countries are investing in transparency and long-term planning, we are still stuck fighting the same old battles.

Indian football has passion, talent and potential — what we lack is accountability, modern structure and a leadership that listens. If the system doesn’t evolve now, we will lose another generation of players. And fans are tired of watching that happen.

Indian football doesn’t need miracles.
It needs honesty, structure, long-term planning and people who actually care about the sport.

Xavi wasn’t just a midfielder for Barcelona, he was the rhythm, the heartbeat, the brain of a generation. Every pass felt intentional, every touch had meaning, and every game ran at the tempo he dictated. He made football look simple even when it was anything but.

La Masia product. Midfield architect. The face of tiki-taka.
Xavi turned ball possession into an art form, made angles appear out of nowhere, and controlled matches without ever needing to shout. If Messi was the magic, Iniesta was the elegance, Xavi was the orchestration behind it all.

A player who didn’t need pace, didn’t need physicality just pure intelligence, awareness and technique. Barcelona’s golden era doesn’t exist without him.

Cape Verde qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is one of the greatest football stories right now. A tiny island nation with a population of just 5 lakh has reached the world stage by building a strong identity, investing in real football structure, and trusting the right coaches and pathways. Their players grow through proper leagues, proper scouting, and a national system that focuses on developing winners, not just running training centres.

Meanwhile, a country like India, with 1.4 billion people, still can’t qualify. Not because of lack of talent, but because the system is broken. No real pathway. No competitive leagues for kids. No scouting culture. No long-term planning. No accountability. Cape Verde shows what happens when a country invests in football the right way. India shows what happens when football becomes an event, not an ecosystem.

Cape Verde proved population doesn’t win World Cups structure does. And India will rise only when the system finally decides to change.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal career is one of those stories people forget to appreciate. Before he became the manager reshaping the club, he was the calm, intelligent midfielder who held the team together during a tough transition era. Arteta arrived from Everton in 2011, instantly becoming Arsenal’s metronome — tidy on the ball, positionally sharp, always available for the pass.

He captained the side, lifted two FA Cups, and played a massive role in stabilising the dressing room when Arsenal needed real leadership. His final years weren’t perfect, injuries took over, and he knew his time was up. But he walked away with full respect, joining Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City staff the very next day — showing how highly rated he already was as a football mind.

Before he was the mastermind on the touchline, he was the quiet heartbeat in Arsenal’s midfield. His playing career didn’t end with fireworks, but it laid the foundation for the manager he would become.

When Thierry Henry first arrived at Arsenal, things didn’t go as planned. He struggled to adapt to the Premier League’s pace and pressure, often doubting himself in front of goal. But Arsène Wenger saw something special — he kept faith in him. And that belief changed everything.
Soon, Henry became unplayable — the touch, the pace, the swagger, and the goals. He wasn’t just scoring; he was redefining how a striker plays. From that debut doubt to becoming Arsenal’s all-time top scorer, Henry’s redemption was poetry in motion. His Arsenal journey ended like a hero’s farewell — the King of Highbury, immortal forever. 👑❤️

You know what I love about Andy Robertson? The lad’s story is proper football. Rejected as a kid, told he wasn’t good enough and look where he is now. From playing in the lower leagues in Scotland to captaining his country and bombing down that left flank at Anfield every week.

He’s got that fire. Never stops running, never hides, always gives everything for the shirt. You watch him and think that’s a player who earns every bit of it. One of the best left-backs in the world, no question. A real example of hard work meeting heart.

That 2015 Champions League semifinal between Real Madrid and Juventus still feels like one of football’s cruel ironies. Alvaro Morata, a product of Madrid’s own academy, returned wearing black and white and ended their European dreams. His goal wasn’t flashy, but it was enough to silence the Bernabéu. The most haunting part? He refused to celebrate, showing a respect that only deepened the heartbreak. It was one of those rare nights when football reminded everyone that loyalty and pain often come together.

N’Golo Kanté isn’t just a midfielder, he’s a system by himself. Every team he’s joined has transformed. Leicester went from relegation battle to Premier League champions. Chelsea went from unstable to European kings. France lifted the World Cup with him quietly controlling every blade of grass. What makes Kanté special is not flash or flair, but consistency and intelligence. In an era of overhyped stars, he stayed grounded and delivered every single time. The game misses players like him — pure football, pure heart.

Luis Enrique remains one of Spanish football’s most fascinating figures. He started his journey at Real Madrid, showing grit and adaptability, but his move to Barcelona in 1996 changed everything. Few players have crossed that divide and won the hearts of both sets of fans. At Barça, he evolved into a true leader, playing across multiple positions with relentless energy and character.

As a manager, he brought a new era to Barcelona with his tactical flexibility and winning mentality, guiding the club to a historic treble. His version of Barça was more direct, disciplined and ruthless in transition, proving he could balance beauty with efficiency. Luis Enrique represents a rare blend of passion, intelligence and control someone who lived both sides of Spain’s biggest rivalry yet forged his own identity beyond it.
