*The Dargah Of Hazrat Nizamuddin: The ecstasy of faith and love*
in 'Sufi Soliloquies', published in the Times of India blog.

Khawaja Syed Muhammad Nizamuddin Auliya (R.A), lovingly called by his devotees and disciples as Hazrat Nizamuddin, Sultan-ul-Mashaikh (Lord of the Pious) and Mahbub-e-Ilahi (Beloved of God). His Pir Murshid was Fariduddin Masud Ganjshakar, lovingly called Baba Farid or Shaikh Farid

He was the beloved Sufi mystic who despised politics, who shunned sultans, and who stressed upon love as a means of realising God. For Hazrat, love of God implied a love of humanity. It is rightly stated about him that his vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of religious pluralism and kindness.

Tonight the 810th Jashn-e-Wiladat (Birthday Celebration) of Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Aulia (R.A) will be celebrated with love and fervour at the beloved Dargah Sharif of Hazrat in Delhi.
