One drug peddler was arrested by the West Siang Police in a midnight operation

Aalo I Sep I 18:

West Siang Police arrested a drug peddler in a midnight operation on the intervening night of September 17.

The ADS team received information that one Ijum Ori had brought suspected he**in and cannabis from Silapathar and was selling them in and around Hissam Colony, Aalo. Acting on the tip-off, the team led by Inspector Yomken Riram, Officer-in-Charge of Aalo Police Station, along with SI A. Pangge, SI T. Kamdak, Ct. R. Rallen, Ct. A. Ansari and Ct. G. Singpho raided the area and intercepted the suspect.

The accused was served notice under Section 50 of the NDPS Act and a magistrate was informed. A body search was conducted in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Jumkar Karbi and independent witnesses.

Police recovered about 2.12 gms of suspected he**in and 11.31 gms of suspected cannabis from Ori. A case has been registered at Aalo Police Station under sections 21(a)/20(A) of the NDPS Act and investigation is underway.

West Siang Police said it remains committed to eradicating the menace of drugs from the district.
