*25th Aug, 2025*
A 14-year-old boy, Ishan Gurung, was snatched right off the streets near 10th Mile Forest Village in Sevoke, under Kurseong Sub-division on August 23, 2025, in broad daylight. His parents, Sunita Ghale and Kishor Gurung, are living a nightmare ever since.
This isn't just a tragedy, it's a wake up call to every family in West Bengal, that our children aren't safe anymore!
Extremely slow reaction by police and administration has caused the people to outrage, having to resort to blocking a portion of NH-10, demanding expedited police action.
Under TMC rule, the critical "Chicken Neck" region is witnessing increasing crime, yet the WB Govt has turned a blind eye. In the recent months we have seen two major attempts at human trafficking foiled, broad-day loot of Jewellery Stores, and ATMs. To add to this, a 14-year-old child has been kidnapped, and the Home Department which comes under CM Mamata Banerjee is yet to react.
North Bengal is bleeding, and the West Bengal Government is asleep.
We have never had such kidnapping cases in our region before. Is the rapidly changing demography, that's diluting the indigenous population of our region, responsible for increasing crime in our region?? Why is the WB Govt always sluggish in responding to the crisis, and sufferings of the citizens from our region??
I request the Chief Minister, under whom the Home Department falls, to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) without any further delay, so that the child can be traced and brought back without home safely.
The WB Govt must wake up, own this mess, and protect our children before more families are shattered.
Enough is enough - find Ishan now.
