17 years of litigation, 2 clear Supreme Court orders, 1 rejected review petition — and now a Bill to nullify it all so that the control of IPS over CAPFs can be restored through the backdoor.
This is not “reform”, it is a direct assault on the rule of law and on thousands of cadre officers who have spent their lives protecting Indian borders & critical installations; providing security to important public figures; managing disasters; and are a critical pillar for maintaining internal security.
When the Court has recognised CAPF Group A as organised services for all cadre matters and ordered phased reduction of IPS deputation, Parliament cannot be turned into an appellate forum for one powerful lobby.
Congress President Sh. Mallikarjun Kharge writes to Prime Minister Modi against the injustice being meted out to the cadres of Central Armed Police Forces.
This is about respect for institutions, dignity of forces on the ground, and the basic idea of equality in service.
(CAPFs include BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, NSG, SSB and Assam Rifles)
