During today’s routine cross-checking and anti-theft drive, our team detected a case of electricity theft at a local garage. The consumer was found drawing an illegal load of approximately 2 kW by bypassing the energy meter. Notably, the same consumer had already been warned earlier about such malpractice.
Despite the warning, the violation continued. As a result, an air compressor being used in the illegal connection was seized on the spot under Section 135 of the Electricity Act, 2003. Strict action will be taken as per APDCL norms.
This operation was carried out by me along with my dedicated APDCL staff as part of our ongoing efforts to curb power theft. We urge all consumers to refrain from such illegal activities. Theft of electricity is a punishable offense, and repeated violations may lead to legal action, disconnection, and penalties.
