Chinese carmakers have gone viral for gesture-based controls that let drivers unlock doors, activate features, or summon the car with a simple hand wave. Brands like BYD, NIO, XPeng, and Huawei-backed AITO showcase this tech using Al cameras, sensors, and smart key systems.
Most of these features work at very low speeds or while parked, mainly for safety. Gesture controls are often combined with remote parking and smart summon, allowing the car to slowly move toward the owner in controlled environments like parking lots.
While the videos look futuristic, the tech isn't magic - it's a mix of AI, LIDAR, cameras, and driver-assist software. These systems are designed as convenience features, not full self-driving, showing how advanced China's EV technology has become.
