The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC), Telangana, recently held Mehdipatnam-based Sri Vijaya Hospitals, and its two doctors guilty of medical negligence in the treatment of a young mother who developed permanent disability following her caesarean section surgery.

As per the New Indian Express report, the court concluded that the patient suffered a nerve injury that was caused by the wrong administration of spinal anaesthesia.

Widely recognised as a legendary figure in pathology, Dr Anita Borges, one of the country’s most respected cancer pathologists, unfortunately passed away in Gorakhpur yesterday after suffering a heart attack at the age of 73.

Dr Borges, often referred to as the “Queen of Histopathology”, was a pioneer whose career spanned over five decades. She served at leading institutions, including Tata Memorial Hospital and S.L. Raheja Hospital, before heading the Centre for Oncopathology in Mumbai.
