China has officially objected to Arunachal Pradesh being recognized as Indian territory once again. On August 10, 2026, the Chinese Foreign Ministry and state affiliated media fiercely condemned India's latest administrative measures to secure its border state.

This latest diplomatic flare up was triggered on August 7, 2026, when the Survey of India officially mapped and assigned standardized Indian names to 27 geographical locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC)

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that Beijing does not recognize the "so-called Arunachal Pradesh". China claims the region as "Zangnan" (South Tibet). State backed outlets like the Global Times slammed India's map as "self-deception," warning it could disrupt improving bilateral relations and threaten an upcoming Modi-Xi meeting at the BRICS summit.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal delivered a forceful pushback against China's objections. The MEA reiterated its long standing stance that China's continuous attempts to assign alternative names are "vain and preposterous" and have zero impact on the ground.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has consistently used blunt, realistic, and unyielding language to dismiss China's territorial claims over Arunachal Pradesh. "Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be a state of India.
