RSS’s Assault on India’s Tricolour: A Thread on Symbolic Erasure

🚨 The RSS, ideological parent of BJP, has long disdained India’s Tricolour, pushing a saffron Hindu Rashtra vision that undermines our secular identity. Here’s how they’re eroding the “idea of India.”

1️⃣ 52 Years of Rejecting the Tricolour
For 52 yrs (1947-2002), RSS refused to hoist the Tricolour at its Nagpur HQ, saluting their saffron Bhagwa Dhwaj instead. Founder Hedgewar called the Tricolour “injurious” to Hindu unity, prioritizing Hindutva over India’s flag.

In 2001, RSS filed a police complaint against activists who hoisted the Tricolour at their site, showing active resistance. This wasn’t oversight—it was a deliberate choice to elevate saffron over the secular symbol of India’s unity.

2️⃣ Saffronizing Bharat Mata on Coins
On Oct 1, 2025, PM Modi unveiled an RSS centenary Rs 100 coin showing Bharat Mata with a saffron flag, not the Tricolour. Traditionally, she holds the Tricolour for unity. This shift, at RSS’s Nagpur HQ, screams state-backed Hindutva.

3️⃣ Open Calls to Replace the Tricolour
RSS affiliates like BJP’s N. Sivarajan (June 2025) demanded the saffron flag replace the Tricolour as India’s national flag. RSS literature often calls Bhagwa the “true” flag of Hindu Rashtra. The coin is a step toward this reality.

4️⃣ An Insult to India’s Soul
The Tricolour embodies our unity-in-diversity, forged in 1947 to heal Partition’s wounds. Saffronizing Bharat Mata insults this legacy, signaling Hindu symbols trump national ones. As Rahul Gandhi warned, Sanghis are destroying India’s secular republic.
