A sudden flood originating from China's Tibet has caused extensive devastation in Nepal's Rasuwa district. The sudden rise in water levels of the Bhote Koshi River has damaged several homes, markets, and other properties in the Timure and Syabru Besi areas.
Vehicles and goods were swept away in the fast-flowing waters, while a bridge also collapsed. Following the flood, 9 police personnel stationed at the Timure Border Post are reported missing. According to officials, contact with them has not been possible since the flood. However, 25 to 30 other individuals present at the border post are reported to be safe.
In view of the flood's impact, an alert has also been issued in Bihar. West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, and Shivhar districts are on high alert. The Disaster Management Department has expressed apprehensions of a flash flood wave approximately 3 meters high arriving in the Gandak River.
