Tonight’s sky could put on a beautiful celestial display.
On August 17, 2026, the crescent Moon, bright Venus, and Spica will appear close together in our evening sky. Look toward the western horizon shortly after sunset and find a location with a clear, unobstructed view.
Venus should be the easiest to spot, while the Moon and Spica will complete this beautiful celestial lineup. They only appear close from our viewpoint on Earth, despite being separated by enormous distances in space.
If you have clear skies tonight, take a few minutes to look up.
Which city will you be watching this from?
