🚨 URGENT RECALL ALERT: CUCUMBERS CONTAMINATED WITH SALMONELLA 🚨
🥒 Cucumbers grown by Florida-based Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales are being recalled due to salmonella concerns.
⚠️ 26 people sickened, 9 hospitalized across 15 states.
📅 Initial recall issued by FDA on May 19.
Affected brands and products include:
PennRose Farms: 1,152 cases repackaged in 5-lb mesh bags (UPC 841214101714, lots 48-122 to 48-125)
Harris Teeter: Whole cucumbers + vegetable trays (UPC 2040620000, 7203689327, 7203689328)
Kroger/Yummi Sushi: 50+ sushi roll & platter products
Ukrop’s: Marinated cucumber salads (sold in VA, NC, WV, KY, OH)
Walmart: Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices (UPC 62969, date codes up to May 24, 2025)
Albertsons-family stores: Greek salads (various UPCs and sell-through dates in 14 states + DC)
Publix: Loose cucumbers & salads sold between May 14–23
Big Y Foods: Made-to-order subs, wraps, and paninis (May 20–21)
JFE Franchising (Snowfox/Snowfruit): Sushi & salads sold in 15+ states
Coastal Companies: 17 products under brands like East Coast Fresh, Wellsley Farms, WEIS, AHOLD, etc.
Supreme Service Solutions: Salads & veggie trays sold at Kroger and affiliates in Midwest & South

Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia
❗ WHAT TO DO:
Throw away any cucumbers if you're unsure where they came from.
Businesses should stop selling affected items immediately.
Return recalled items to the store for a refund.
Clean surfaces with hot, soapy water or dishwasher-safe methods.
🧫 SALMONELLA SYMPTOMS:
Diarrhea
Fever
Abdominal cramps
Symptoms appear within 12–72 hours and last 4–7 days.
👶 High-risk groups: Kids under 5, elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
