DC Doda Reviews Preparedness for IPPI-2026, Directs 100% Coverage of All Eligible Children Including Nomadic Population
Doda, June 16:- Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Sh. Krishan Lal, JKAS, today chaired a meeting of the District Task Force to finalize arrangements and review the preparedness for the upcoming Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI)-2026 programme in the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Sh. Manesh Kumar, Programme Officer (POSHAN) Mr. Akhtar Qazi, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma, Dr S L Manhas, Dy CMO Doda, Block Medical Officers and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the comprehensive micro-plan presented by the Health Department and issued directions for ensuring 100 percent coverage of all eligible children across the district. He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts across all five medical blocks including Assar, Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Ghat and Thathri to achieve complete saturation under the programme.
The IPPI-2026 campaign aims to administer polio drops to an estimated 57,524 children in the age group of 0-5 years across District Doda on June 28, 2026. A door-to-door follow-up activity will be conducted on June 29 and June 30, 2026, to ensure that no eligible child is left out.
To facilitate smooth implementation of the campaign, 507 vaccination booths have been established across the district, supported by 1,014 vaccination teams and 101 supervisory officers. In addition, 13 transit teams have been constituted to cover nomadic, migratory and other floating populations.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining vaccine quality, cold chain integrity and timely distribution of vaccines to all vaccination sites. He directed all officers to lay special focus on covering hard-to-reach areas, including remote and mountainous regions of the district, and called for enhanced monitoring to ensure equitable access to immunization services.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the Health Department to ensure that all nomadic families presently residing in higher reaches and seasonal grazing areas are covered under the campaign through the deployment of special teams, so that every eligible child in these locations receives polio drops.
Underscoring the importance of community participation, the Deputy Commissioner called for close inter-departmental coordination involving ASHA Workers, Anganwadi Workers, the Education Department and public representatives. He also directed the BMOs to intensify awareness activities through public announcements, IEC campaigns and other media platforms to mobilize parents and guardians for maximum participation.
The Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to work with dedication and commitment to ensure the successful implementation of the programme and achieve the goal of a polio-free district by reaching every child below five years of age during the upcoming immunization drive.
