Gandoh, April 26:
In a continued effort to strengthen police-public coordination and ensure responsive policing, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sh. Kartik Shrotriya (IPS), visited Gandoh and chaired a public meeting at Police Station Gandoh.
The meeting was attended by SDPO Gandoh, SHO PS Gandoh, other police officials, and saw active participation from civil society members, traders, youth representatives, and local residents.
During the interaction, several key issues were raised by the participants. The matter of the wine shop emerged as a major concern, with locals demanding its relocation due to inconvenience and safety risks. Other issues highlighted included traffic congestion, illegal parking, rash and negligent driving, increasing drug abuse among youth, stray cattle menace, and incidents of theft.
The SSP gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured the public that genuine concerns would be addressed in a time-bound manner.
Emphasizing the importance of community policing, SSP Doda stated that maintaining law and order is a shared responsibility. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
A significant part of the meeting focused on tackling drug abuse. Reiterating the department’s firm commitment under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan,” SSP Doda appealed to the public—especially youth and community leaders—to come forward with information about drug peddlers and actively support efforts to eliminate the drug menace.
Highlighting the need for traffic discipline, the SSP directed officers to intensify enforcement against violations such as overloading, underage driving, and non-use of helmets and seat belts.
He further issued directions to strengthen night patrolling, enhance naka checking, improve beat policing, and ensure prompt redressal of public grievances while maintaining transparency and accessibility.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both police and the public reaffirming their commitment to work together in maintaining peace, harmony, and a crime-free environment in the district.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment to people-centric policing, ensuring continuous engagement with the community to build trust and effectively address public concerns.
