*Doda Police Booked Two Persons for Using VPN Applications in Violation of District Magistrate’s Orders*

Doda Police booked two individuals for using VPN applications in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the Hon’ble District Magistrate, Doda.

On 27.12.2025, a police party from Police Post Bhagla Bharth, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Doda, was deployed on routine patrol duty. During patrolling, at about 1530 hours, the police party reached Bagla Main Market and noticed a person using a VPN application on his mobile phone.

On being questioned by the Incharge Police Post Bhagla Bharth regarding the use of the said application, the individual failed to provide any satisfactory explanation. Exercising due caution, he was apprehended and brought to the Police Post for further questioning. Upon enquiry, he disclosed his identity as Khalid Abrar S/o Mohammad Abdullah Butt, R/o Bagla Bharth.

As the Hon’ble District Magistrate, Doda, has imposed a ban on the use of VPN applications, the individual was found to have violated the lawful orders. Accordingly, on the basis of the report received from Police Post Bhagla Bharth, a cognizable report was forwarded to Police Station Doda, leading to the registration of FIR No. 279/2025 under Section 223 BNS. Further investigation has been taken up.

Similarly, another individual namely Mohd Irfan S/o Abdul Latief, R/o Tendla, Tehsil Chilli, was spotted at Shali Pul, Gandoh, using a VPN application in violation of the orders issued by the Hon’ble District Magistrate, Doda. Accordingly, FIR No. 125/2025 under Section 223 BNS has been registered at Police Station Gandoh, and further investigation is underway.

Doda Police once again appeal to the general public to strictly adhere to the orders issued by the District Administration and cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order.

*DODA POLICE SECURES CONVICTION IN BOVINE SMUGGLING CASE WITHIN 3 DAYS OF REGISTRATION OF THE CASE*

Doda, December 27, 2025:

Doda Police have successfully secured the conviction and punishment of an accused involved in a bovine smuggling case, reaffirming their sustained efforts to curb illegal activities in the district.

As per official sources, on 25.12.2025, a case vide FIR No. 76/2025 under Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Thathri against Mohd Hanief S/o Alfoo Gujjar R/o Barthal, Batote, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban. During the operation, six (06) bovines were rescued from his possession.

After completion of the investigation, the challan was produced before the Hon’ble Court of JMIC Thathri on 27.12.2025. After hearing the matter, the Hon’ble Court convicted the accused and imposed a fine of ₹7,550/- upon him.
Pertinently this conviction has been secured within three days of registration of the case.

Doda Police reiterate its commitment to take strict legal action against bovine smuggling and other unlawful activities to maintain law and order in the district.

On the directions of SSP Doda, *Sh. Sandeep Kumar Mehta, JKPS,* the Cyber Police Station Doda organized Cyber Awareness Workshop at *10 RR, Hqrs Doda* with a view to give awareness to the army Jawans and general public about Cyber crime. The event witnessed large numbers of Army personnel and locals.
On this occasion lectures were delivered by **PSI Ankush Nagra* of Cyber Police Station Doda to the participants and they were made aware about the use of cyber crime portals, floating trends of fraudsters to trap common man in their tricks to loot their hard earned money by way of using various type of online cheating like credit card fraud, OTP , QR scan frauds, online gaming frauds, assuring loan frauds. Participants were ,also cautioned to keep their social media accounts secure and safe and also remain aware while chatting with unknown person on facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Twitter etc.
Mentionable here that cyber awareness programmes are being organized by J&K Police to spread the awareness of Cyber related crimes, online frauds, cheating among the general public so that common people may not get trapped in the net of fraudsters / cheaters.

*Doda Police Foiled Bovine Smuggling bid; Rescued 06 Bovines; Accused Arrested and Vehicle Seized*

Doda, December 25, 2025:

Continuing its sustained efforts to curb bovine smuggling, Doda Police successfully rescued six bovines, arrested the accused, and seized the vehicle involved in illegal transportation.

At about 0230 hours today, a naka party of PS Thathri deployed at Kalnai bridge intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. JK06B-1503 for checking. During inspection, the driver—identified as Mohd Haneef, S/o Alf Gujjar, R/o Barthal, Batote—was found illegally transporting six bovines (four buffaloes and two cows) towards Kashmir in a cruel manner, in contravention of the District Magistrate, Doda’s orders.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 76/2025 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act has been registered at Police Station Thathri. The accused has been arrested, the vehicle seized, and the rescued bovines have been taken into safe custody. Further investigation is underway. Police has requested ARTO Doda for cancellation of driving license of the accused and for cancellation of RC of the vehicle.

Doda Police reiterates its firm commitment to curb bovine smuggling and to protect animal rights across the district.

*Doda Police Traced Missing Person; Reunited Him with Family*

Doda Police has successfully traced a missing person and reunited him with his family. The missing report was lodged at Police Post Changa, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Gandoh.

On 20-10-2025, a missing report regarding Nayeem Iqbal, son of Javid Iqbal, resident of Gowari, Tehsil Gandoh, aged 23 years, was entered at Police Post Changa vide DDR No.04 dated 20-10-2025. Despite continuous efforts by the family members, the whereabouts of the missing person could not be ascertained.

Subsequently, following sustained and diligent efforts coupled with technical assistance, a police team of Police Post Changa, Gandoh, successfully traced the missing person. The missing report was closed vide DDR No. 10 dated 25-12-2025, and the recovered person was handed over to his family after completing all necessary legal formalities.

The family members have expressed their gratitude to Doda Police for their timely and professional efforts in reuniting the missing person with his family. Accordingly, the missing report stands closed.

*SSP Doda Presides Over the Finals of Cricket Tournament at Gandoh Under CAP- 2025; Holds PCPG Meeting at Far Off Gowari Area of Gandoh*

Under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2024–25, Doda Police organized a Cricket Tournament at Helipad Ground, Gandoh, which commenced on 21st December 2025 and concluded successfully on 24th December 2025.

*SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta, JKPS*, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event was organized under the supervision of Sh. Lov Karan, SDPO Gandoh, who also served as the Nodal Officer for the tournament and welcomed the participating teams. Senior officers, including SDM Gandoh, were present on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, *SSP Doda* appreciated the players and organizers for their enthusiastic participation and reiterated that Doda Police regularly organizes sports and community-oriented programmes under the Civic Action Programme to promote positive engagement among youth. He emphasized that such sports activities at the sub-division level provide a valuable platform for young talent and help channel their energy towards constructive pursuits.

The *SSP Doda* further urged the youth to actively participate in the special campaign launched by J&K Police to eradicate drug abuse and other social evils, with the aim of building a peaceful, crime-free society.

A total of *16 teams* from across Sub-Division Gandoh participated in the tournament. The final match was played between *Walli Cricket Club, Gandoh and Lions Cricket Club*, in which Walli Cricket Club emerged as the winner.

On the occasion, *the winning team was awarded a cash prize of ₹25,000, while the runner-up team received ₹15,000, along with trophies and certificates of participation*. A large gathering witnessed the final match and highly appreciated the efforts of Doda Police in organizing such youth-centric sports initiatives.

Later in the day, *SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta, JKPS*, also conducted a Police–Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting at Gowari, Kilhotran. The meeting was attended by a large number of respectable citizens from the area. Public issues raised during the interaction were patiently heard by the SSP, who assured that police-related matters would be resolved promptly, while issues pertaining to other departments would be taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.

Continuing its sustained drive to apprehend absconders and wanted criminals, District Doda, has successfully arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest in a criminal case.

While giving details, Doda Police stated that the absconder Imran Ahmed, S/o Lala Tak, R/o Rachoo Roat, Marmat Doda was involved in FIR No. 212/2025 registered under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 332(2), 351(2) & 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Doda. Although the challan in the said case had already been presented before the competent court, the accused had been absconding thereafter. Consequently, the Hon’ble Court of the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Doda, issued a warrant of arrest under Section 512 CrPC against him.

Accordingly, a dedicated police team from Police Station Doda was constituted to apprehend the accused. Acting on technical inputs and reliable human intelligence, the police team successfully tracked down the absconder, arrested him, and produced him before the Hon’ble Court of law.

This arrest underscores the steadfast commitment of Doda Police, under the supervision of *Sh Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Doda,* towards upholding the rule of law and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice. Further investigation is underway.

*SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta Highlights Success of J&K Police; 58 Lost Mobile Phones and ₹6.5 Lakh Defrauded Amount Recovered and Restored to the Victims*

*Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta*, today addressed a press conference and highlighted the significant achievements of Jammu and Kashmir Police, particularly in the recovery of lost mobile phones and restoration of money to cyber fraud victims.

During the press conference, *SSP Doda* stated that people often lose their mobile phones or become victims of theft. To address this issue effectively, Jammu and Kashmir Police has launched a dedicated online mobile recovery portal, enabling citizens to lodge complaints in a simple and transparent manner.

*SSP Sandeep Mehta* informed that during the last three months, Doda Police successfully recovered 58 lost and stolen mobile phones, with an estimated total value of *₹13 lakh*. As a result, 58 beneficiaries were reunited with their mobile phones, providing much-needed relief to the affected individuals.
He further stated that these mobile phones were reported at different police stations across the district. With the dedicated efforts, technical expertise, and continuous monitoring by the Cyber Police Team, all the traced mobile phones were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

*SSP Doda* also revealed that some of the recovered mobile phones were related to cases nearly one year old, proving that citizens should never lose hope, as the police remains committed to public service and justice.
In another major achievement, SSP Sandeep Mehta informed that *₹6.5* lakh defrauded money was successfully restored to victims of cyber fraud, further demonstrating the efficiency and people-friendly approach of the Cyber Police Unit.
While appreciating the Cyber Police Team,

*SSP Mehta* emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir Police is continuously working with dedication and professionalism, whether in cyber crime investigation, public grievance redressal, or maintaining law and order through modern and technology-driven policing.
During the event, the beneficiaries praised the efforts of Jammu and Kashmir Police and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to *SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta*. Many beneficiaries stated that they belong to economically weaker sections and were not in a position to purchase new mobile phones. They said the police rendered a great humanitarian service by recovering their lost property and restoring defrauded money.

The beneficiaries thanked Jammu and Kashmir Police, Doda Police, and the Cyber Police Team for their sincere efforts, stating that the initiative has strengthened public trust and confidence in the police force.

Doda Police achieved a significant success by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a charas-like substance from his possession.

As per official sources, today on 20.12.2025, at about 1830 hours, a police party from Police Post Kahara, along with the District Special Branch, while conducting surprise naka checking at Tanta Bridge, Kahara, intercepted two persons namely: Mohd. Nasir, and Abu Hurera,(both real brothers), S/o Yehya Khan, R/o Village Loharthaeey, Tehsil Chirala, District Doda.

During frisking, the police party recovered polythene bags containing charas-like substance from their possession, as detailed below:

*Mohd. Nasir – 440 grams*
*Abu Hurera – 270 grams*

During the operation, accused Abu Hurera fled from the spot and also resorted to stone pelting on the police party in which the civil vehicle of one of the DSB official got damaged.

Accordingly, FIR No. 122/2025 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act and 125 BNS has been registered at Police Station Gandoh against both accused persons. One accused has been arrested on the spot, while efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused who is the real brother of the one arrested. Further investigations with regard to the backward and forward linkages in the case is in progress.

*Doda Police Traced Missing Lady and Reunited Her with Family*

Doda Police have successfully traced a missing lady and reunited her with her family.

On 23.01.2025, a lady namely Anu Devi, D/o Shri Pritam Singh, R/o Charota, Tehsil Assar, went missing from her residence. In this regard, a missing report was lodged at Police Station Assar.

On 18.12.2025, with the help of technical assistance and human intelligence, the said missing lady was traced from Bhaderwah. After completing all required legal formalities, the missing report has been closed accordingly, and the lady has been safely reunited with her family.
