In a swift and successful investigation, District Police Doda has solved a theft case involving approximately 100 bundles of Saria weighing around 10 tonnes, recovered the entire stolen property and arrested 04 accused persons within a few days of registration of the case.

On 05.08.2026, a written complaint was received at Police Post Bhalla, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bhaderwah, regarding the theft of approximately 100 bundles of Saria, weighing around 10 tonnes. Acting promptly on the complaint, FIR No. 127/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS was registered at Police Station Bhaderwah and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, the police team led by IC Police Post Bhalla under the jurisdiction of PS Bhadarwah with the assistance of human intelligence and technical resources, developed vital leads regarding the stolen property and the persons involved. Several suspects were rounded up for questioning, and sustained investigation led to the identification of the accused persons and recovery of the entire stolen Saria.

The arrested accused persons have been identified as:
1. Fareed Ahmed S/o Bashir Ahmed, R/o Rakh Jarogh, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban.
2. Alif Din S/o Habbiullah, R/o Rakh Jarog, Batote, District Ramban.
3. Mumtaz Ali S/o Abdul Gani, R/o Thopal, District Ramban.
4. Rinku Kumar S/o Madan Lal, R/o Dralta, Tehsil Batote, District Ramban.

On the disclosures of the accused persons, the police recovered the entire stolen Saria comprising approximately 100 bundles and weighing around 10 tonnes, having an estimated value of ₹6–7 lakh.

With the recovery of the entire stolen property, 100% recovery has been achieved, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.

The prompt action and effective investigation by IC Police Post Bhalla and his team, supported by technical assistance and human intelligence, resulted in the swift detection of the case, arrest of all four accused and complete recovery of the stolen property.

Continuing its sustained drive against the menace of drugs and narcotic substances, Doda Police has arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered approximately 150 grams of charas during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Station Assar.

On 07.08.2026, a naka party deployed at Model Naka Point, Baggar, under the leadership of SHO Police Station Assar, noticed a pedestrian coming from Batote towards Assar. On seeing the police party, the individual became suspicious and attempted to flee from the spot.

Acting swiftly, incharge naka along with the naka party, chased and apprehended the individual. During his personal search, a black-coloured polythene bag containing approximately 150 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

The accused was identified as Randhir Singh S/o Baldev Singh R/o Ganota, Baggar, Tehsil Assar, District Doda.

Accordingly, FIR No. 28/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Assar, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered contraband and to identify other persons who may be involved in the illegal drug network.

Doda Police reiterates its commitment to adopting a zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and peddling. Strict action under law will continue against individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances, while concerted efforts will remain focused on protecting the younger generation from the harmful effects of drugs.

Continuing its sustained efforts to apprehend absconders and ensure that persons evading the process of law are brought to justice, District Police Doda today apprehended an absconder wanted in connection with a case registered at Police Station Doda.

The accused, namely Shamas Din S/o Abdul Rashid R/o Bhata Chaka, Tehsil & District Doda, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 262/2024 under Sections 137/64 of the BNS and Sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act, registered at Police Station Doda. A General Warrant of Arrest had been issued against him by the Hon’ble Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah, on 28.08.2025.

Acting on credible information and through sustained efforts, the absconder was successfully apprehended by IC Police Post Khellani along with his team. The accused was subsequently produced before the Hon’ble Court of Principal Sessions Judge, Bhaderwah, today.

As per the directions of the Hon’ble Court, the accused has been lodged in District Jail, Bhaderwah.

The arrest was carried out under the supervision of senior officers, with the IC Police Post Khellani and his team playing a key role in ensuring the apprehension of the absconder.

In a significant breakthrough, Doda Police has successfully solved a burglary case registered at Police Station Gandoh by recovering stolen gold and silver ornaments worth approximately *₹6 lakh* and apprehending three persons involved in the crime.

On 21.07.2026, an application was received at Police Post Kahara from a complainant alleging that during the intervening night of 13/14.07.2026, unknown persons had broken open the locks of his residence and decamped with gold and silver ornaments.

Acting promptly on the complaint, FIR No. 84/2026 was registered on 21.07.2026 under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and investigation was immediately taken up.

The investigation was conducted by IC Police Post Kahara under the leadership of SHO Police Station Gandoh. Through sustained investigation, relentless efforts, meticulous technical analysis, and persistent follow-up by the investigating team, the case was successfully worked out. During the course of investigation, the stolen gold and silver ornaments were recovered. The total value of the recovered property is approximately ₹6 lakh.

In connection with the case, the following persons have been apprehended:

1. Mohd. Ismail S/o Hasham Din, R/o Pashalla Tipri, District Kishtwar.
2. One Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) (identity withheld in accordance with the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015).
3. Himanshu Verma S/o Dhruv Verma, R/o Sukrala, Billawar, District Kathua.

Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain whether the accused are involved in any other criminal activities.

Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mineral resources, Doda Police today seized four dumpers during routine checking conducted by IC Police Post Karara, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Thathri, for violations of the mining regulations.

During naka checking at Karara Naka, one *dumper bearing Registration No. JK06A-5387*, driven by Irshad Hussain, S/o Ghulam Nabi, R/o Malnai, Berru, Bhaderwah, was intercepted while transporting mining material (dust). Upon verification, the vehicle was found transporting the material without a valid E-Challan/Form-A. Accordingly, the dumper was seized and taken into police custody at Karara Naka.

In a separate checking operation, three 10-chakki dumpers bearing Registration Nos. JK02CU-6469, driven by Sanjeet Singh, S/o Romal Singh, R/o Darsoo, Tehsil and District Udhampur; JK02CR-9969, driven by Baldev Raj, S/o Sukh Ram, R/o Chappar, Dansal, Jammu; and JK02CR-8169, driven by Kaka Hussain, S/o Mohd. Shafi, R/o Naki, Tehsil Majalta, District Udhampur, were also intercepted. During verification, it was found that the documents authorizing the transportation of mining material had expired. Accordingly, all three vehicles were seized and kept at Karara Naka.

The District Mineral Officer (DMO), Doda has been informed in all the cases for initiating further legal action under the relevant provisions of law.

Doda Police remains committed to curbing illegal mining and ensuring strict enforcement of mining laws. Doda, July 21:

Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mining material, Doda Police took prompt action against a vehicle found violating the prescribed mining regulations during a naka checking operation conducted by IC Police Post Karara along with his police team.

During the naka checking at Karara, a tipper bearing Registration No. JK14B-4553, driven by Naseer Ahmed S/o Shafi Ahmed Wani R/o Nagri, Doda, was intercepted and subjected to checking. The vehicle was found loaded with sand. During verification, the driver produced an e-Challan/Form-A valid from 20.07.2026 (5:49 PM to 10:49 PM). However, the vehicle had been intercepted and checked at 12:45 PM, well before the commencement of the validity period of the permit, thereby rendering the transportation unauthorized.

Accordingly, the vehicle was seized on the spot, and the matter was immediately reported to the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Doda through the Police Control Room (PCR), Doda for necessary legal action. Subsequently, the Mining Department imposed a fine of ₹23,542 on the violator.

Doda Police reiterated its commitment to enforcing mining laws and taking stringent action against all those involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of mineral resources. Such enforcement drives will continue across the district to curb illegal mining, protect natural resources and ensure strict compliance with the law. The public has also been urged to report any instances of illegal mining or unauthorized transportation of mineral resources to the nearest police establishment so that prompt legal action can be taken against the violators.
