*Doda Police Intensifies War Against Drugs Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan; Awareness Drives and Cannabis Eradication Operations Conducted Across District*

Continuing its sustained efforts against drug abuse and narcotic cultivation under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Doda Police organized a series of awareness programmes and enforcement drives across different subdivisions of the district.

At Government Higher Secondary School Abli Masri Malwana, Police Post Gundna, led by IC PP Gundna, conducted a comprehensive drug awareness programme aimed at sensitizing students about the harmful effects of substance abuse. The programme emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle. Students actively participated and pledged to contribute towards building a drug-free society.

Similarly, at Government High School Pul Doda, Police Post Pul Doda, led by IC PP Pul Doda, organized an awareness lecture under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Officials from the Health Department and Social Welfare Department also participated and addressed the students on the social, psychological, and legal consequences of drug addiction. The programme concluded with an interactive session focusing on prevention, awareness, and youth empowerment.

In another significant initiative, Police Station Assar, under the leadership of SHO PS Assar, organized a Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan awareness programme at the BDO Office Assar in collaboration with the Rural Development Department and prominent members of Panchayat Assar. Around 35–40 participants attended the programme. During the event, police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information regarding narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and substance abuse activities in society.

As part of the enforcement measures, Police Station Assar also carried out a special drive for the identification and destruction of wild cannabis plants growing within its jurisdiction. The operation was conducted successfully as part of the ongoing campaign against narcotic substances.

Likewise, Police Station Thathri, led by SHO PS Thathri, organized an IEC (Information, Education and Communication) campaign in collaboration with allied departments at Higher Secondary School Nandana, Thathri. The programme focused on educating students and local residents about the dangers of drug abuse and the collective responsibility of society in combating this social menace.

Further strengthening anti-narcotics efforts, Police Station Thathri destroyed wild cannabis cultivation spread over approximately one kanal of land near a known hotspot area within its jurisdiction. The action was undertaken as part of the district-wide drive to eliminate illegal narcotic cultivation.

Meanwhile, Police Post Goha, Marmat, led by IC PP Goha, conducted a special operation against the illegal growth of wild cannabis plants. During the drive, police personnel identified and destroyed wild cannabis vegetation found at various locations within the jurisdiction, thereby preventing its misuse and reinforcing the anti-drug campaign.

Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Doda Police achieved another significant success by arresting a lady drug peddler and recovering approximately 32 grams of he**in (Chitta)-like substance from her possession.

Acting on reliable information regarding the illegal sale of narcotic substances, a police team of Police Station Doda, led by SHO PS Doda under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda, conducted a swift operation at Sadeeqaabad, Doda.

During the operation, lady Gulshan Begum, wife of Yasar Ahmad and resident of Sadeeqaabad, Doda, was apprehended. Upon search, approximately 32 grams of he**in (Chitta)-like substance was recovered from her possession. The accused was subsequently arrested and booked under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.

Accordingly, FIR No. 150/2026 under Sections 08/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify any forward and backward linkages connected with the narcotics network.

As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, IC PP Premnagar, along with the Naib Tehsildar Premnagar and Medical Officer, PHC Premnagar, conducted a joint inspection of various medical shops falling within the jurisdiction of Police Post Premnagar.

During the inspection, the team checked compliance with regulations governing the sale, storage, and distribution of scheduled and restricted drugs. Medical shop owners were sensitized about the legal provisions relating to prescription medicines and were directed to strictly adhere to the prescribed norms and maintain proper records of all such medicines.

Necessary directions were issued to ensure that scheduled and restricted drugs are not sold without valid prescriptions and that mandatory registers and records are maintained accurately. The exercise was aimed at preventing the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs and strengthening efforts to curb substance abuse in the area.

As part of the enhanced security arrangements put in place in view of the VVIP visit and the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan aimed at eliminating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking, Doda Police achieved a significant success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substance from his possession.

During a special naka established at Khellani, a naka party of Police Post Khellani led by IC PP Khellani, under the leadership of SHO Police Station Doda and DySP Headquarters Doda, intercepted a suspicious individual for checking. During the search, approximately 317 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed S/o Mohd Shafi R/o Mothi, Goha, Doda.

Accordingly, FIR No. 148/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source, supply chain and intended destination of the recovered contraband.

The action forms part of the sustained efforts being undertaken by Doda Police under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan to curb drug trafficking and safeguard the youth from the scourge of narcotics.

The main plantation programme was led by SSP Doda, Sh. Kartik Shrotriya, IPS, at the District Police Office (DPO) Lawn, Doda, in the presence of ASP Doda, DySP Headquarters Doda, ADO Doda, and all Branch Incharges of DPO Doda. On the occasion, a large number of saplings were planted, symbolizing the collective commitment of Doda Police towards environmental protection, ecological preservation, and sustainable growth.

As part of the district-wide initiative, all SHOs and Incharge Police Posts (IC PPs) conducted plantation drives in their respective jurisdictions. In a significant action against drug trafficking and its financial networks, Doda Police has attached a residential property *worth approximately ₹52 lakh* under the provisions of Chapter VA of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The action has been taken in connection with *FIR No. 93/2026" of Police Station Doda registered under sections 8/21/22/29/25/27A/20 NDPS Act. During the investigation, substantial quantities of narcotic substances, cash proceeds and other incriminating material were recovered, indicating the involvement of the accused persons in illicit drug trafficking activities.

The investigation was conducted by SHO Police Station Doda under the close supervision of DySP Hqrs. Doda. A detailed financial investigation revealed that a double-storeyed residential house with basement situated at Sadiqabad, Doda, belonging to *Zareena Begum W/o Late Ghulam Ali,* had allegedly been acquired from proceeds generated through illegal narcotics trade. The property, assessed at approximately ₹51.91 lakh, has accordingly been attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act pending further proceedings before the Competent Authority.

The attachment has been carried out after establishing a clear nexus between the property and proceeds derived from drug trafficking. The accused persons involved in the case are facing legal proceedings under the NDPS Act, while efforts are also underway to identify and attach additional assets, if any, found to have been acquired through illicit means.

Doda Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and continues to take stringent action not only against those involved in the narcotics trade but also against the assets and financial infrastructure supporting such illegal activities.

The general public is urged to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by sharing information relating to drug trafficking and substance abuse so that collective efforts towards a drug-free society can be further strengthened.

As part of its ongoing commitment towards community policing and youth engagement, Doda Police organized a Police Public Outreach Programme at Police Station Assar, wherein students from various educational institutions were invited for an awareness-cum-orientation visit.

The programme was aimed at familiarizing students with the functioning of the police department and strengthening trust between the police and the community. During the visit, the students were sensitized about the role and responsibilities of police personnel, emergency response mechanisms, cybercrime awareness and online safety measures, traffic rules, and the adverse effects of drug abuse on individuals and society.

The participants were also educated about the importance of responsible citizenship, legal awareness, and the role of youth in maintaining peace, harmony, and public order. Police officers encouraged the students to act as responsible members of society and contribute positively towards building a safe and secure community.

*Doda Police Traced Missing Girl Within 24 Hours and Reunited Her with Family*

Doda, May 31, 2026:

Demonstrating prompt response and unwavering commitment towards public service, Doda Police successfully traced a missing girl and reunited her safely with her family within 24 hours.

A missing report regarding one girl namely Zareena Banoo D/o Akhter Hussain, resident of Rolan Gosti, Chiralla, Tehsil Chiralla, District Doda, was entered at Police Station Thathri vide DDR No. 10 dated 29-05-2026.

Acting swiftly on the report, a dedicated police team from Police Post Karara, led by the Incharge Police Post Karara under the leadership of SHO Police Station Thathri, was immediately deputed to Srinagar to trace the missing girl.

Through sustained efforts, technical assistance, and meticulous analysis of CDRs and location inputs, the police team successfully traced the missing girl in Srinagar within 24 hours. Thereafter, after completing all requisite legal formalities, she was safely handed over to her legal heirs on 31-05-2026.

The family members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Doda Police for the prompt action, professionalism, and tireless efforts that led to the safe tracing of the missing girl and her reunion with the family.
