01 Drug Peddler Arrested With 51.97 Grams of Heroin-Like Substance by Lakhanpur Police
KATHUA, December 01:
Continuing its intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, J&K Police Kathua, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS), arrested a drug peddler and seized approximately 51.97 grams of heroin-like narcotics in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lakhanpur.
On 30.11.2025, a police team led by SHO Lakhanpur Insp. Tariq Ahmed, under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS) and DySP DAR Sh. Ritesh Sambyal, was patrolling the area when they intercepted a suspicious individual.
Upon questioning, he identified himself as Daanu, son of Makhan Deen, resident of Jethuwal, Tehsil & District Amritsar. During a thorough search, the team recovered 51.97 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. The contraband was seized, and the accused was arrested on the spot.
Following the recovery, a case FIR No. 144/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Lakhanpur. Further investigation is underway to uncover the peddling network connected to the accused.
J&K Police Kathua has once again urged the public to share any information related to drug abuse or trafficking to help curb the menace. The department assured that the identity of informers will remain strictly confidential.
