Drug Peddler Nabbed with Brown Sugar in Upper Tadong

Sikkim Outlook | Gangtok, August 7:
In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Sadar Police Station team apprehended a known drug peddler, identified as Samir Gurung (22) from Salugara, Siliguri. The arrest was made at Lumsay, near the Sikkim Milk Union in Upper Tadong, following a source-based input.

During the operation, police recovered 39.35 grams of brown sugar (he**in) from the accused's possession. The swift action was made possible with the active cooperation and support of local youths from Tadong, whose assistance has been formally acknowledged by the police.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.

In a proud moment for the Bhutia community, the All Sikkimese Bhutia Association (ASBA) organized a grand felicitation ceremony at Makhlim, Gangtok, to honor members of the community who have recently been appointed to key government positions.

The event witnessed the presence of ministers, MLAs, OSDs, chairmen, chairpersons, and the Deputy Mayor from the Bhutia community, symbolizing a historic moment of unity and recognition. The ceremony celebrated the collective achievements and contributions of the Bhutia leaders toward the state.

Uttarkashi Flash Flood: Relief Ops in Full Swing, Over 130 Rescued
Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, 6 August : Relief and rescue operations are underway after a devastating cloudburst triggered flash floods in the Kheerganga River near Dharali. Over 130 people have been evacuated safely so far. The Army, NDRF, SDRF, and police forces are working round the clock under challenging weather conditions.
Around 150 soldiers from the 14th Rajputana Rifles, three SDRF teams, and 300 police personnel have been deployed. Relief camps with food, medicine, and shelter have been set up.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the situation and directed all agencies to act swiftly. Helicopters and specialist medical teams are on standby. Schools in several districts have been shut amid continuing heavy rain and fresh alerts from the IMD.
